Quick Look: Mario Golf: World Tour

There's a lot of toad yelping in this game.

uhhh that's one helluva conclusion to draw. They still have like 5 announced WiiU games and we're not even yet at E3. We know about fewer 3DS games from Nintendo than we do WiiU games. Nintendo has two platforms it has to support.

So no. They haven't "officially abandoned the WiiU."

People are a little too surprised that a wildly successful console, the 3ds, is getting games put out on it.

Having said that, if you actually look at the games list of 3ds, it's still not a system that has all it's bases covered. Nintendo has the same problem every generation it seems, due to a focus on the games it puts out, also, trying to be the console for children.

There isn't anything charming about a shrill, high-pitched screech everytime you push the "A" button. ;)

This just looks mediocre.

So much Toad hate :( He's probably my favorite Mario character to date, he's always so pumped to do his tutorial stuff!!!

Camelot should have added more RPG features to this game, kinda boring without them. Or they need to get to work on a new Golden Sun...

Why didn't they do any of the Super Mario courses or turn Items on? I wanted to see what that was about, I already know what Golf looks like.

I got this yesterday and I love it. That's coming from someone who hates golf.

Too bad they didn't get into the online features. Apparently, things like custom tournaments are supposed to be big this time around.

Nah, what you want in a Mario Golf game is a Mii character playing a standard game of golf.

Though I've played the demo, and I couldn't really find the CrAzY golf.

Yep, the DS Golden Sun sucked real bad. And maybe in retrospect the first two weren't the best either??? I liked them at the time but I don't feel so good about em anymore.

I don't think the audio is that bad. The colour looks oversaturated too.

I think looks like a great addition to my 3DS library. I wish Nintendo did more sports games like this. I'd love a proper RBI baseball remake for 3DS done in this style.

Speaking of which, I wonder if @jeff has played any of those Famista games for 3DS? I think they only came out in Japan, but they look good.

They actually look at both options during the quick look but never choose them. It's maddening

This seems a little. . .lifeless. The game's presentation looks disappointingly lowkey.

Why is Jeff such asshole to poor Luigi? What did Luigi ever do to Jeff Gertsmann? This hate should be put to more productive use like getting rid of Waluigi. Fuck that guy.

A little bummed that it feels like this quick look undersells the game's features, but it is fairly representative of how you'd likely spend your first 45 minutes with the game. And it is a sports game quick look after all. :P

Entertaining quick look and that's what matters most to me, most I've enjoyed a quick look for a little while.

This is a petty complaint, but I'm kinda sick of Nintendo music sounding like it was made with an old Korg M1 workstation. Their compositions might be solid, but the digitised piano and horns just make it sound cheap. There's ways to retain the spirit and still sound vaguely contemporary.

I wish I didn't have to buy a Nintendo console or a handheld play these games.

The UI in Nintendo games always seems so decidedly Japanese. I don't really mean that in a good way.

I could use a simple golf game to play every now and again. I could never get into Hot Shots on my PSP, but this looks like it could be fun!

There is online play, and it's actually very well done and super fun. I've lost many hours to it already.

And you can move the camera in all sorts of ways if the default putting angle doesn't do it for you. Boo is indeed a fat-ass.

I'm enjoying the hell out of this game. Great video, love Jeff and Vinny looks.

Hmmm, doesn't look that interesting. I was expecting something batty from Nintendo, but it looks like your typical golf game with a Mario skin.
