Quick Look: Mario Golf: World Tour

I wasn't expecting this to be a 3ds game, have they officially abandoned the WiiU?

@pete0r: What makes you say that? There is a new Mario Kart for WiiU coming out this month, and the new Smash Bros is coming to both, although not at the same time. While I would understand that they're focusing on the more successful 3DS, I wouldn't say they've outright abandoned the WiiU.

Hm, I might actually buy this game. I need something that would me open my 3DS again and I've never really played Mario Golf extensively.

The MSRP is 30$ in the US, but 40€ in my country. I think I'm gonna wait a while and see if I can get it for less.

Library of DS + 3DS might contend for top 3 of all time. Picked up this and Kirby Triple Deluxe yesterday. Nintendo is straight killing it these days.

It actually does have a pretty extensive multiplayer mode where you can make communities and start your own tournaments. People can play at the same time as you, Nintendo is doing various tournaments where you can get gear like a power glove for your mii character. Tournaments are where the person starting it sets the duration days/hours and you get as many redoes to get your best score within that time frame that the person set. Once you are happy with a score you can upload it and the ghost of the persons ball you can see alongside your own while playing. There is also VS mode where its one after another and I believe you can do 2v2 where people take shots back to back to back . I'm honestly digging this game a lot, they also seem to be doing DLC tournaments where they let you play 3 courses from the DLC pack, although this one is a coin challenge where the course/sky is littered with coins and you have to try to get the best total number of coins. You can also play anyone on your 3DS's friends list and make lobbies for larger matches than just 1v1. I do not believe there is download play.

There is absolutely zero correlation between one and the other. The WiiU slate is actually pretty tasty looking. Of course you wouldn't know it if all you hear is dismissive nonsense on gaming sites (yes, this one included).

The original Mario Golf on Game Boy Color was so awesome because it was also somewhat of an RPG. You leveled up your swing and beat "bosses" around the Country Club.

Fun fact: Camelot were the creators of Waluigi.

Mario Golf and Hot Shots golf are the only golf games I have dedicated a significant amount of time to. Golf is infinitely more fun when not taken seriously.

The character animations are especially pleasing. Boo especially have lively animation.

Maybe for future games Nitendo should cut back on the character exclamations. The extensive glossary is impressive, but Toad was very annoying after just a couple minutes.

No character progression? That's rather disappointing. The items are interesting, but why not allow for progress towards something?

So does this not have RPG elements? Because that was the only reason I was looking forward to this game with Camelot.

I wanted to make a Tiger Woods gold game where you had to manage all your mistresses txts in between plays wand how well/poorly you did that would affect your ability to play golf and your sponsorships for some sort of meta game.

I have a feeling some one already made that, just can't find the link.

The unlockable characters are Paratroopa, Kamek, Toad and Birdo. There will apparently also be DLC characters with Toadette, Nabbit, Rosalina and GOLDEON MARIO.

Sorta. The Club House has you earning gold while doing courses which let you buy items for the Mii to increase their stats.

I have seen Tin Cup recently, and can confirm chili dipper is a thing they say in that movie at some point.
