Quick Look: Mario Golf: World Tour

Its a shame games that should be on the wii u keep being on the 3ds.

Looks like a servicable golf game.

Can someone explain why Mario Golf HAS to be on the Wii U? Seems like a great game for a handheld to me.

I wasn't anticipating this but this seems like something I could get into.

I'm really liking this game so far. My only real complaint is that you can only play as a Mii in the career mode. Without the Mario characters, the game just feels like an arcadey golf game with a Mario font slapped on. So let me tell the story of Bowser's pro tour career, damn it!

Also a weird thing, in the Royal Room, everyone will talk to you directly except for Mario and Luigi: they talk to you via Toad as a proxy. Are they too good for us? Has their success gone to their heads?

While I'm not a fan of the very talky overly enthusiastic commentary by the golfers and crowed in these games, yet you have to admit it is a mainstay of Japanese golf games. Hotshots is a bit too over exuberant as well. That just seems to be part of the game for these in Japan. On the other hand, it was my impression that Wii Sports Golf was a much quieter more sedate game. Wii Golf still cheered you when you did good shots, but it was more willing to just make the comments quick and at a acceptable volume.

One thing is true, if you don't like most sports video games, you still might light a video golf game.

Most of the crazy courses are DLC

This totally has a Hot Shots golf vibe to it- and that is a good thing.

Still, Toad needs to calm the hell down.

@cloudymusic: You may want to check out the history of these games. The first one Camelot made on the GBC had you pick a character to compete against Nintendo characters. This is really...par for the course.

Hot Shots Golf on Vita ain't got shit on this. Also, it's been out long enough that it's had price drops and goes on sale every so often. ADVANTAGE: VITA

Still nothing interesting for my 3DS until Tomodachi Life hits.

Birdo was in the right locker room, so it checks out. Plus, this game has a surprising amount of stuff it in. Like Waluigi doing a persistent pirouette in the vip lounge (Someone call the cops).

Now, you see, if more golfer's acted like Toad out on the course I might actually care about golf.

That being said: It's all about Boo and his pimp ghost party out on the green!
