Never been in to fighting games mostly because I'm terrible at them but the fighting QL's with Jeff are some of my favorite videos on this site. Pretty sure I've seen all of them now.

Pumped for this release. XBLA like ninja released this last week? These games are the blind-spots of my Capcom fighting knowledge.

"I just don't know why they would add filters..." "Yeah, I'm in it for the pure, original experience..."

No, you're not. I doubt you want a 640x480 box in the middle of your gigantic TV screen. Or with older games, 320x200 or whatever it was. Like, hold an index card up to your TV, and that's how the original resolution would look if you put it on there unfiltered. A tiny, tiny box.

I loved X-men vs. Street Fighter. But MSH vs. SF was probably my favorite out of all the vs. games. You can also preload as Ken or Akuma by holding some buttons at the start of the fight in MvC. I think it's on the load screen?

They released MvC on Dreamcast. I bought the Japanese version when I spent a month in Hong Kong as a kid. I also got the Agetec joystick, that sweet tamagotchi memory card (which I never bothered replacing the battery), and light gun along with one of the House of the Dead games and the Japanese version of the Die Hard Arcade.

I eventually got MvC2 for it and all SF3 and CvS, but I always just button mashed. It wasn't until SF4 and now MvC3 that I really started to play for real.

Upscaling ain't a filter, son.

Worth the price for MSH alone, a fantastic port of a fantastic game! Thanks Dave Lang!

Fact check: MSH hit arcades in 95, followed by X-Men VS SF (in 96). Also, yes, MVC1 and MVC 2 were both released on the Dreamcast. The more you know...

Loved playing Shuma & Blackheart in this when MSH was in arcades. Will definitely look for this when I have some extra points, not sure how much I'll play this but definitely looks worth it for these two games. After watching this I'm wondering on why they never did a sequel/hd remake or even just a rerelease on the current consoles of the Captain Commando game (as they put the collections with this game on the previous consoles & PSP).

I usually hate filters in emulators or other retro collections, but the options in this game are actually quite good. Also, I don't know about the rest of you guys, but every arcade cab I've ever played on was usually fucked up in some fashion. Either the screen was distorted, or the control panel was melted from lit cigarets being placed on it, or the speakers were blown, etc. Those fuck ups are part of what comes to mind when I hear the word "arcade." I left the default filters on for this, I like that look.

DO NOT talk mess about X-Men vs. Street Fighter. That game is awesome. It's basically the same as MvC1, but with Ken Masters dude!

And just listening to that MvC1 intro music made me super nostalgic. That game defined my childhood experience at the movies. I fucking love that game.

These re-releases with GGPO and the peripheral achievement/challenge stuff are really well done. I think anyone with fond memories of an old capcom fighter would love to have their favorite game redone by these guys.

I have Marvel Vs. Capcom on Dreamcast...

There was also a PS1 version that didn't support tagging, so it was basically a totally different game.

Someone screen-cap the CGI arcade machine and cut-out the game visuals, stat! That arcade machine would make a sick Tricaster transition.

Marvel vs. Capcom 1 came out on Dreamcast. I loved the hell out of it; I think MvC1 is way better than MvC2. MvC2 was too manic and I don't like the three characters system. MvC1 might be the only fighting game I feel comfortable at.

MvC1 also came out on the PS1, but they cut the character tag feature because of RAM limitations. Because of that, I think the PS1 port of MvC1 had some extra features that no other version of the game has, to make up for what else was cut out of it. MvC1 did not come out on the Saturn, though I don't blame Jeff and Patrick for thinking it did, because for a lot of years I thought so, too.

Marvel Super Heroes was awesome. I wasn't really into the first Marvel vs. Capcom, though; the second game was really the one that got me into the vs. games. I'm shocked that this collection doesn't include X-Men: Children of the Atom, which was an awesome fighter.
