@BlazeHedgehog: I think one of the things they added was giving Mega Man Onslaught's power after you beat the game. I think it always shows it in his ending but on PS1 you can actually use it.

I played a lot of MvC for ps1 at my friends house. I remember just some weird differences about that game from the other versions (I think there was extra specials with different button combos?) but it was always really fun. MvC1 is the second best MvC right behind 2 for me.

They released MvC on Dreamcast. I bought the Japanese version when I spent a month in Hong Kong as a kid. I also got the Agetec joystick, that sweet tamagotchi memory card (which I never bothered replacing the battery), and light gun along with one of the House of the Dead games and the Japanese version of the Die Hard Arcade.

I eventually got MvC2 for it and all SF3 and CvS, but I always just button mashed. It wasn't until SF4 and now MvC3 that I really started to play for real.

I believe you could also have a two player co-op mode where each player was one of the two characters on the team.

When I was a kid, I was always super jealous of everyone with MvC2 because I only had 1. I think I had asked for 2 but, you know, parents. They tended to be alright with the games I asked for, but that was one of the memorable times they weren't.

Kind of looking back, it does seem like MvC is a more fun game for my style than MvC2. What made the second more fun was just insanity of it all, 3 characters, being at a party, and the menu music. The first just seemed like a more capable fighting game, but I also don't know shit about anything. I just know I really want to go back and play it again.

I remember the DreamCast version. Had it. Played the four player version with my girlfriend (at the time)'s friends kids. Was fun even though they didn't know what they were doing. Anyone know if that mode's in, or how to start the petition to get it as DLC?

Huh. So, something I've noticed with Jeff and fighting games (or, at least, Capcom fighters)... He always goes in with jumping roundhouse. So, if you ever find yourself fighting Jeff, just hang back, wait, and throw out an uppercut.

Uh, right. The games themselves. Neat to see these two get a rerelease, but I always enjoyed XvSF more than MvC1. Though it is really nice to see the ol' Blue Bomber again.

Man...whatever happened to Captain Commando? Dude gets one beat-'em-up, is featured in two fighting games, his nickname is LITERALLY Cap Com, but NOTHING else. It's weird that he's even in MVC1 and 2 considering he only ever had a single game to his name.

That said, I absolutely love the character design and the character in these games. And the original game for that matter.

Man, I used to play the HELL out of Marvel Super Heroes, might pick this up sometime for that. Also have weird memories of MVC1, I think the card/comic shop I used to go to had a machine for it, and then at some point changed to MVC2.

Man I loved MvC 1 so much when it came out. I always played Cyclops/Gambit and got really good at it. IMO it is the best MvC. I'm not as into MvC 2 or 3 although they're ok.

Also MvC1 was totally on the dream cast, I played it all the time on Dreamcast when i was in high school =P

@gladspooky: that's missing the point - upscaling to nearest neighbor without any interpolated pixels is what jeff is talking about. I think either a faked CRT/scanline effect, or pure upscaled pixels to nearest neighbor is the best way to handle old games like this.

Don't know if it's been said, but MvC1 DID come out on the Dreamcast, I own a copy. MvC2 is much more rare on the DC I believe.

Shout outs to the Lang Zone. And I would totally pay for a filter with FMV people crowding the machine and hype Yipes commentary.

Yep, came to say this exact same thing as well!

Seems like an awesome collection, I just wish X-Men vs. Street Fighter could have been included on it. I grew up on that in the arcades.

MvC1 is the boooooooombb. Canceling Ryu's normals with the stance change is so much fun. Also Strider is extremely good. And Venom is fun.

Not only that, but he's buddies with a ninja, a mummy, and a baby riding on top of a mech. And he plays guitar dressed as a cowboy.

What the hell is going on with the shadows in that elevator level? The characters are casting round shadows beneath them, okay... but they're also casting silhouettes on the background. But the silhouettes are only visible through the *windows*. That doesn't make any sense, unless maybe they're supposed to be reflections, not shadows, and the emulator isn't rendering them correctly?
