This game looks gay as hell

uhhhhhh am i the only 1 let down by how this game seems to have turned out?

Funny, I watched the GameTrailers review and it seemed to go out of its way to not mention how this game is straight up on auto-pilot. Fun factor counts for a lot, though, so I won't say this game won't be fun for a lot of folks, but for me it just looks like it would put me to sleep. 
 
I'd rather get my ass kicked and learn to do better than have the game simply take control most of the time to get me through it. Normally Jeff's immediate cynicism would be a minor annoyance, but I'm with him on this one.

Dude, I dunno about "fan service." I'm a huge Metroid fan and I've beaten all the Metroid games so far, but this game...the way they portray Samus in this and in MP3 is just wrong. She's not the strong, silent type like Link, but she's not whiny and boring like in Other M. She's tough, self-confident, and really smart. There's no reason why Samus would give total authority over to some old CO just because. Metroid Fusion was partly so awesome because of the incredible story, where Samus was totally willing to make the unpopular decision because it was right. That makes her mildly renegade, even.
 
Metroid Prime got it right until the third game, where she was totally silent. Ever played Super Metroid, Fusion, or Zero Mission? Samus narrates all of those. These things annoy me. I really like Ninja Gaiden, but I think I would be very annoyed by this game.

The 4/5 star review made me curious about the game but watching the QL reminded me why I was initially put off. I would be 100% more interested if it was a 2D platformer a la Shadow Complex instead of this hybrid crap.
Also given Team Ninja's involvement I'm suprised that Samus doesn't have giant bouncy... Assets.

Why would you pronounce the 'a' in Samus as a short 'a' but the 'a' in Aran as an 'Ah' sound?!

"Other M" is an absolutely ridiculous name.

Wow, this game looks like it'd be a bitch to control.

I like "Pre-LC".  People should use that if they don't already.

This game should have stayed 2D. At least it's proper Metroidvania unlike the last Castlevania game.

Game Informer seemed pissed by this game, story and controls. Oh, and they gave Metroid Fusion a 10 back in 2002. By the way.  But they did give Mafia II a 9...so they're kinda bogus and all over the place. "

Screw ZEH-BEH-S!! I've been calling it ZEEBS since Super Metroid, so it's ZEEBS!!! That's how you pronounce Zebes!!! ZEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEBS!!!!!

i agree with the games pronunciation of "aran", but not of "zebes"

I like brad

I always thought it was pronounced like zeebs.
Metroid, 2 and Super were all really good games and there was nothing wrong with them so why are we constantly try to fix what was never broken.  Shadow Complex came out and proved that it's still fun all these years later.
 
Other M plays like, looks like and is a mistake.

It can also be 2 singel v´s...

No matter how much Brad is trying to make the game sound good, he keeps encountering situations like the one involving the two robots. I find it strange (i.e. funny) that he said at 17:24: "I feel like I'm knocking this game left and right; I really like it, just for the record." I also enjoyed how Jeff tries his darnedest to diplomatically express his disapproval. 
 
They should have removed all overtly Metroid components and used the controls for an original I.P. That would have made a great game. From what I've seen of the gameplay and story so far, this game introduces elements that just don't belong in a Metroid game, e.g. regenerating health, auto-dodge, other characters and of course, the manner in which they portray Samus herself.
 
Anyway, let's move on to the eternal Metroid pronunciation controversy! (Insert gameshow cheers and applauses here)
 
I believe that her name should be pronounced /'sæ:.məs/ /ə.rɑ:n/ based on the Japanese サムス　アラン 
[sa̠.mɯ͡β̞,su̥] [a̠.ɽã] as rendered by the rules of English phonotactic constraint. 
 
That is: Samus as in SAT and ANIMUS and Aran as in ARRANGE and BATON. 
 
I always pronounced Zebes as /'zɛ:.bɛs/ which I base on what I presume to be the Japanese ゼベス [d͡ʑe.be.su̥]   like EBB and MESS although the English pronunciation is /"zɛ.bəs/.

About halfway through this game so far.  It does some things well but everything else about it is garbage.  It just has so many damn problems.

This game looks great, i haven't played the series since super metroid. I'm tempted to get this :)

Really not selling me on it.  Another game I had some hope for and really is kinda of like flat seven up.   
 
I love the taste of flat seven up, but at the end of the day, it's still without its "fizz". 

I'd play the balls out of a new 2D metroid game (one that's not out on some handheld thing, but an actual console). Sad to hear this started out 2D before it turned into whatever this is.
