@Knives:  Hmm... I never played the second or third one, but I believe that you are probably correct. Some people would argue that the greatest trilogy was Halo. I don't like FPSs with joysticks (I'm a mouse and keyboard guy) so I wouldn't be the one to judge.

Also, I understand that there's lots of shooting in Metroid Prime. I got past that. I liked the exploration and the other Metroid-i-ness of it.

What about Mega Man 1, 2 and 3? Would that be a trilogy? Mega Man 4, 5 and 6 could be another trilogy. I'm a Mega Man fan. Mega Man 2 is pretty much the best game ever. Personally, I would say that the best trilogy that I've played is the Gabriel Knight trilogy. The ending of the third one still pisses me off to this day.

@Knives:   I dunno, the GTA III trilogy I think had a much greater impact.  This was just 'ey, now you see her arm shootin things while her face is reflected.'

I enjoyed the primes, but  I have been wanting a full on sequal in the classic super metroid style for a long time now.  Playing Shadow Complex isnt helping my desire for it either.  It just makes me sad to know that when they actually do that then it will likely be confined to the Wii........ which I dont have and wont buy.  I havent really looked up anything on the new Team ninja metroid, but Team Ninja being involved really puts me off.  Guess I will see where things go.

I don't know. Other M might be in the "style" of the old Metroid games. We don't know yet, but I doubt that Nintendo would allow Team Ninja to mess up Metroid. Kinda like how everyone freaked out when it was announced that Retro was doing Metroid Prime. Everyone freaked out and there were stories of Miyamoto going to their office and it was equated to the Emperor checking out the Death Star. Nintendo won't allow them to mess it up, probably.

Also, it's possible that Metroid: Dread will come out at some point. That would be pretty swell.

I'm with you, Vinny.  Scanning was great :) I liked just wandering around trying to find everything.  Made me feel like a detective or sumpin'

Are there alternate controls?  I'm not sure I'd like holding my hand in the air the whole time...  scanning looks like it might be more fun, though.

I'm just kinda curious, what other trilogies are there? The only two that came to my mind were Halo and Gabriel Knight (which was rad.) I could be mistaken, but I think that there were ultimately three Toejam & Earl games... the original Star Wars trilogy on SNES... hmm... I can't think of anything else.

Yea, MP Corruption is way better than the tedious Echoes, it had some awesome levels and boss fights, the only thing that was screwed up was one point in the game devoted to a long fetch quest.

I bought the Metroid Prime GC bundle, but I never liked it very much. Just like Mario and Zelda I rather play it in 2D on a SNES or GBA. I never even liked Mario 64 or Zelda OoT that much which makes me one in a million pretty much since most people love them. Nintendo reached it's high on the SNES imo.

I'm also considering picking this up despite he fact that I already own all three games. I've been looking for a good excuse to replay the Prime series, and the motion controls coupled with the visual update and token system could very well provide that.

Also, for any who haven't played though Corruption (Brad, Vinny), I'd highly reccomend doing so. I felt the addition of multiple planets to explore, the surprisingly good motion controls, its new hyper mode, the wrap-up of the Prime story, and especially this game's music all came together to make for a solid Metroid Experience that can easily hold its own against its two siblings. I still view it as one of the best reasons to own a Wii.

It's like the orange box for metroid :)
Also, in the metroid time line, the metriod prime games (including metroid prime hunter for the ds) happen first, before any of the other metroid games.

" I totally stopped after the first Metroid Prime. In fact, I never even finished the first Metroid Prime. The part at the end where you have to jump up the huge tower thingie or whatever? With the Metroids attacking you? And then you have to face off against the boss? Then you beat him and he has a second form? I tried it several times, but the whole jumping part was such a pain that I eventually realized that I had my money's worth out of the game and quit.   Yes, I'm a quitter. Oh well! I did enjoy the rest of the game a great deal though. "
This, only I never got to the top. It's almost like no one play tested that area. I really wanted to beat Prime but I didn't care for the idea of not having fun.

Dude, Brad has basically the exact same Mii as me, but we look practically nothing alike. What's up with that?

Definitely plan to pick up this game though, as I've only played the original Prime. Too bad I can't afford it right now.

I passed up all Prime games because of the shitty gamecube controls. I'll be getting this next week and probably never finish any of the games. 2D Samus is my true love.

Please tell me there is some kind of line to follow like in Shadow Complex or Dead Space. I get so confused when backtracking in 3D.

I hope Other M is a poorly scrambled anagram hinting toward the return of Mother Brain.

I bought Prime 3 right around the time when it was out but didn't finish it until like two months ago. In my opinion these games are great, though a bit to similar to one another.

I started on Prime 3 two times before finally, starting a third time making up my mind to finish it, I played trough it over the course of a couple of days. So having played through all three games, what is my impression?

1 and 2 had better/harder final bosses, those where some sweaty palms-ass final bosses. 3 was more "oh this is it?" which was a shame seeing how it was the "conclusion" of the prime storyline.
