Oh wow, when they started to play the game, the speed of it made me a little bit dizzy. Wasn't expecting it to be that fast.

Very interesting. I've been thinking a lot about how cool it might be to get an uncompromising throwback FPS. Dumb fun and nothing more. And, holy fuck, if this doesn't seem to fit that bill perfectly. So, is it time to put my nostalgic feelings to the test and be potentially bored and heart-broken after about 15 minutes? I think it just might be!

Oh my goodness, it's been YEARS since I've played a game with a good rocket launcher in it. I may have to check this out purely for rocket-y goodness.

I was worried this would be some ugly butt rock mess. I'm glad to say it doesn't seem like that at all. It's bad but great in a way that the creators have no pretense about but it hits enough of what's good and right about the original that it works.

Yeah, old-school shooters are very different from modern shooters so I'd recommend just playing those. Seems all right, though.

The first few trailers showing reload animations and ironsights got me worried, but the fact that the guns have infinite ammo (and no noticeable difference in accuracy from the hip) makes that really funny.

How to get the ankhs on that building? ROCKET JUMP!

When Vinny brought up the missile camera cheat from the original, makes me wonder if the game I'm thinking of was the original RotT (or not) where there was a cheat for the missile camera but there was another cheat that changed the missiles to bunnies. Game looks crazy fun in a Saints Row 3 FPS.

It makes me happy just knowing this, and things like Shadowrun Returns, Dragon's Crown, and the Tower of Doom re-release exist - and things like Torment and Star Citizen are forthcoming.

The 90s were a dumb, wonderful time to be a 13 year old PC gamer, with many popular games being made by lunatics with entirely their own idea of how to do things. It's nice to see some of that diversity coming back as the barriers to entry on modern game development keep lowering.

Next gen is gonna be great, with consoles apparently adopting more of this sort of attitude in their hardware design and publishing. Not just okay - great.

It does have dog mode in SP and MP. Doesn't show up in SP til the second world, though.

Looks like some dumb fun, think ill pick this up eventually.

@vinny@brad You guys use nvidia cards right? Use a free tool called D3DOverrider to force vertical sync and triple buffering. You'll get better performance than just using the vsync options in the game, nvidia control panel or nvidia inspector.

@vinny Yes, taping magazines together is a valid battlefield tactic. The Russians used to teach it to their troops. It's pretty effective even though it adds weight to the rifle.
