Pretty much sold on this based on this QL. The price seems appropriate, too (on Steam at least).

I'm actually less interested in this game after seeing this QL. It looks like the maps get to a point where the rock is more of a chore to control, than actually fun. Patrick and Ryan were constantly coming to a dead standstill, and lumbering their way around obstacles. It just doesn't seem particularly fun.

What is it with Giant Bomb users, and constantly feeling the need to comment on the fact that I sign my posts? It's a habit I picked up from years of signing posts on Usenet, and it's completely harmless, so get over it.

This is about the tenth time I've had someone on this particular website point it out, as though it's worth commenting on.

So... somebody made Odama again. Without the voice control.

Ok. I can get into that.

I really want this game, but I just got this gut feeling the PC version is going to control like complete shit. Anyway, here's hoping for a TNT of this game.

Zeno Clash was a PC exclusive for 6 months, so I doubt it.

I hope so. Just jaded on that kind of stuff on smaller games like this as the last dozen or so I bought were unplayable mess with a KBM. Really don't feel like throwing away another $10.
PCs use 360 controlers.... this "controls on pc will ruin the game" argument is about 6 years overused
I play games on PC because I despise playing games with a controller and prefer a MKB. This "Herpa derp! Just plug in a controller you idiot! It's fine for me so why can't it be fine for you?" argument is about 6 years overused.

FACT: Some games control better with a gamepad. If you can't deal with it then don't play those games, rather then blaming a bad port instead of your inflexibility.

I always quote Super Meat Boy on the PC. "The first guy to say keyboards are better than controllers gets shot in the face". If an indie darling says so, it must be true.

I play as many PC FPSs as I can on controllers. For what it's worth. Deus Ex is the current one, which gets extra brownie points for having flawless swapping between both schemes.

My only complaint so far is that your defenses don't do nearly as much damage as I think they should, sometimes it feels like it just comes down to whoever finishes 3 runs down the mountain first, and that you want to mainly cause the other player to waste time by knocking them off rather than trying to damage them with catapults and such.

I think that's the point. There's few situations where you could totally destroy your opponent's ball, but if you wear it down effectively with catapults and other obstacles, it does significantly less damage.
But yeah, a huge portion of the game is focused on doing the best speed run of the course possible. The game is offensively focused, so if you go into it expecting the tower defense portion to be deeply engaging, you might be disappointed. It sorta does come down to whoever finishes 3 runs down the mountain first, and how effectively you can do that before your opponent.

That splitscreen action was actually very fun and intense to watch whilst the singleplayer wasn't really as interesting.

That thinking is so completely flawed. Expecting all input methods to be equivalent as long as the developer tries hard enough is absurd.
At best, maybe this game could have some kind of trackball/trackpad support to control the direction of the rock. The only way for a mouse to have any control over the rock would be to force an overhead perspective, and then let you move the cursor around the ball and have the ball move towards the cursor. But the developers may not want that perspective on the gameplay, or want there to be a cursor on the screen while rolling.

Mice are good for camera movement in first- or third-person or overhead views, or for issuing commands while in those views, but are less practical for direct character movement.
Some games need analog controls, for precise movements, in such a way that a mouse is not ideal. For example, any game where you control a sphere (this game, Super Monkey Ball, etc.), or any driving game ever, is severely limited when using a standard KBM setup.

Specific controllers exist for a reason. They've been making flight sticks, racing wheels, and gamepads with 1-2 analog sticks for PCs for years, because there are games that require analog precision, and not in a way that a mouse can really replicate.

I think Patrick may in fact be a Rock of Ages hustler. He roped Ryan into thinking he knew nothing about how to play, and then places his defenses in the perfect positions to cause maximum frustration and has an almost flawless run the last time, hitting the shortcuts with precision.

That thinking is so completely flawed. Expecting all input methods to be equivalent as long as the developer tries hard enough is absurd. The only way for a mouse to have any control over the rock would be to force an overhead perspective, and then let you move the cursor around the ball and have the ball move towards the cursor.
When you move around the rock it's a third person game. It wouldn't be hard to allow you to use WASD to move forward/side to side and use the mouse to turn the camera for finer directional control.

As for the whole racing.fighting game thing, I hate those genres so I never play them and have no opinions on them one way or the other. The problem I have is when people stand on top of a hill and proclaim their gamepad is the superior way to play games and anyone who thinks otherwise is a jack ass for having a different opinion then them. I prefer to play games with a KBM, and outside of the above mentioned genres I have never had a problem using it to play any of the games you listed as needing a gamepad to play "properly". I got from start to finish of SMB using the keyboard and never once felt like I needed a gamepad to play it "properly". People are confusing "I don't like to play games with a KBM because it feels wrong for me." with "it's impossible to play a game with a KBM. Therefor everyone should have to use a gamepad."

Anyway, this whole debate started from me just saying that I hope the game has competent KBM controls on the PC and isn't just another indie game that can't be bothered to throw in some functional KBM controls and expects you to use a gamepad. Whether anyone reading this likes to play games with a KBM or a gamepad I really couldn't care less.
