@nmarebfly: For the record, it *did* have bots at least, but you're right that it was very much a case of bad timing and circumstances for soooo many reasons.

To make things even worse, it was also the game that Microsoft decided to use as a sort of experiment in 360-PC crossplay, which for obvious reasons made things kind of awful for the 360 users who wanted to compete. As far as I know, there was no way to play only with people on your own system without just doing a local LAN.

GodDAMMIT, Vinny! Entering a QL without knowing some things? What kind of fly by night operation is this?

Though in all seriousness, this game appears to be built more for fans, and apparently didn't do a great job explaining a lot. You'd need to have watched some of the developer playthrough videos (one on Gamespot) to have any idea it seems.

Also, JAKE Mutha FUCKIN' ARMITAGE!

I had heard he was in the game, but that Vinny got him so early it seems, has me stoked. Spent so much time in that SNES game.

I just jumped into the game. It's simple enough that I figured out most of what i needed to know with no problems.

Fair enough. Seems in the bustle Vinny might have forgotten some of the magic basics. I figured if he hadn't gotten that down then he had no chance at the Rigger and Decker stuff.

So, do think someone super dedicated could recreate the SNES Shadowrun using this engine? It seems completely doable from what little I've played of the game.

If you look at the steam workshop page some people are already trying.

I'm enjoying it so far, except for the save system. No manual save is kind of a bummer.

Still, it's a pretty impressive system for player made content, and unlike say the original Neverwinter Nights, the campaign that comes with it is worth the price of admission alone.

Been playin this game for a few hours now. Really like it. Combat reminds me of FO 1 and 2.

I was just thinking the same thing watching this QL. That's a pretty big selling point for me.

In addition to the magic thing, SIN is a reference to a System Identification Number, like the US's social Security Number...or Canada's Social Insurance Number. SINless are people on the fringes of society; "No document, no person" as the old saying goes.

Sure, I think it's not the game's fault though if Vinny never looks at the large buttons at the bottom right corner of his UI.

The saving seems like a bummer, why didn't they just make it manual or atleast auto before/after encounters

Does look pretty cool, but the save system seems really poor. As in Magicka poor.

That mask looks really poorly designed. If you look upwards you'll unplug your mouth tube. And we all know what flows through the mouth tube.

@kelbear:

Yes, thank you. The 360 Shadowrun was a blast, despite me never buying it. That multiplayer demo with just one map, that was infinitely more fun than most shooters. So much tactical thinking, so much variety in encounters. A shame it never caught on.

This game looks really fun! Reminds me of Fallout 2, in a good way. I like how they've also made the combat reminiscent of XCOM: Enemy Unknown. :)

Seems to be more like a graphical novel than a game. Too much reading, not enough playing.

This comment is hilarious. Too much reading in this RPG.

Never have I let out a "fuck you Brad!" fiercer then when he suggested it was brazen for this game to call an area "The Barrens." I'm glad they didn't get far enough into it to claim that Shadowrun ripped off the matrix from the Wachowskis....

The whole bit about commerce being a weed that will take root in cracks a crevices wherever it can, and especially in the Redmond Barrens seems like a nicely veiled remark on Microsoft and how it handled the last game to carry the Shadowrun game.

Wow. There really needs to be more Shadowrun coverage on GB. Especially with Shadowrun Hong Kong just released. If not that, they could always cover the very excellent Shadowrun Dragonfall.
