Quick Look: S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat

Looks pretty cool. I dig the atmosphere.

I hated the first STALKER. And this game looks exactly like the first STALKER.

Call of Pripyat is a superior game to the rest of the series. It's impossible for me to imagine going back to the other ones at this point. It packs some excellent atmosphere. It's certainly lots of fun for fans of the series, and newcomers alike.

Looks interesting, but not my kind of game. Also, it didn't crash, shows they've improved this engine a lot.
 Dave is really good at showing off games. He always explores menus, shows items, and different ways to play.

Please crank up the visuals next time you play a pc game. I mean it just takes a minute and it would make the game look so much better, actually I think this game has pretty awesome visuals if you put it on high

On Point, looks pretty fun. I really enjoy the QL because I probably won't have an opportunity to play, but If i can play vicariously through you guys, it works for the time being =)

Finally, a game that's balanced for lean.

Since Dave likes shonky Eastern European adventure games, I wonder if he's ever played PATHOLOGIC.
 
I bought it but haven't played it yet. I'd be interested to hear if he's played it and what he thinks.

 I don't get why they make so much fun of it, (Brad) the people in this game look 100% better than in fallout 3 with a waaay lower budget, the physics are better (bullets fall off), there isn't the auto-level crap that the monsters do in Oblivion and Fallout; there are some funny "Russian things" like the dialog, but as a shooter i enjoyed the last 2 stalkers more than the last few shooters I played; namely Resistence 2, call of juarez, FEAR, and far cry 2 (although it was a close call). But heck far cry 2 had more bugs in it than Stalker and yet people just make fun of the Russian game... 
If you are a fan of fallout 1 or 2, and haven't played stalker yet go play it, it feels more like FALLOUT mechanics than Fallout 3 did! (Fallout 3 had the better humor though, not up to fallout 1 and 2 standards...) Maybe they should have mixed both games... that would have been nice!

I enjoyed the atmosphere in the first game but out of box the game was too janky to enjoy..i had to use a mod just to make the game tolerable.
 
The stealth in the first was garbage and the weapons weren't that much better so there wasn't much you could do. Even basic movement was hindered by strange clipping problems where i'd be running and i would pause when running over the rails of some train tracks.
 
disappointing, before it came out i was really hyped up for it.

 Hey! This does not take place in mother Russia! I don't blame you guys though, The Ukraine is kinda similar to Russia, but similar isn't the same. If you want to get picky about it, Pripyat and the Zone of Alienation(That's what the irradiated area surrounding Chernobyl is called) is right on the border of Russia. But the devs are Ukrainian. Great Quick Look anyways. The game looks deep.

Well, it's at least the best-looking Russian game I've ever seen, I'll give it that.

In reference to what Vinny said about reflective scopes- If you look carefully in Call of duty 4 or modern warfare 2 (at least on the xbox version) what the reflection is isn't actually the reflection of what is around you. It's just a 'stock' 360 image that spins as you do. Each 'area' has it's own. For example, in the Flashback part of CoD4, the scope will show a building if you face a certain direction, even if you're miles from any building which looks like that.

Who gave Dave the right to be that laid back?

So far, I love this game.
 
Why couldn't fallout 3 be this?

I can't imagine wanting to play this game without having played the other two. The first STALKER set up so much story that this one does not. You'd be missing a lot if you played this game first.
