A big deal I noticed in the beta is that in dungeons there are loading screens between literally every room. My friend with an ssd was not bothered but it took me about 30 seconds to open any door.

So this would cost 225 dollars to play for a year? Not seeing anything that makes it that appealing.

So what's the consensus on this thing? I feel like I've heard nothing but terrible things about it, which ensures me it probably isn't that bad.

It's a half-decent elder scrolls game and below average MMO.

I just saw the video. Seems like Jeff has it on an ssd, considering my previous post.

I have a caviar black regular hdd and literally every press E to open door is a 20 second loading screen. So that means every 20 meters in that prison opening has a loading screen.

All it does is make me want to play Skyrim again but that won't happen until they announce the next ES. What can I say? It looks so boring. The graphics are ok.

The game seems alright I guess, but gosh it reminded me of the terribly boring Skyrim fighting system.

This game is so bad, glad I didn't buy it, suffers from the problem SWTOR did, just give me a proper TES/KOTOR game, none of this dumbed down themepark MMO shit.

I don't know about the "dumbed down theme park" bit, but I do agree that I just want another regular TES and KOTOR.

I really enjoyed the time I spent with the game for the one beta weekend I did. The quests all felt pretty great imo. They didnt feel overly generic. IE go to this spot, kill 10 murlocks and turn in BS. There was a pretty sweet world event with this huge portal coming out of the sky sending a chain to the ground and summing enemies that needed a bunch of people to stop. Was a pretty sweet mage quest with Sheogorath. I had a lot of fun.

Any fantasy game just makes me want to play Dark Souls 2 now. Dark Souls can use some cat people. It already has talking cats... it's so close. (I'm joking, by the way!)

How the hell can people recommend this game to people who like Elder Scrolls lore? It has all the terrible garbage such as alliances that make no sense, ordinators making indoril armour for argonians and elder scrolls as ctf items. Putting books from the games that are worth playing on the walls != good lore

you know I been watching their quick looks for years now and sometimes just cant believe how they cant figure out the basic features right away when playing the game, the part about zooming out of the map to see the full continent and jeff says you cant zoom out bc you are in the city, I am yelling at my tv "yes you can you idiot! right mouse click! c'mon right mouse click!" and several past quick looks they have done similar things like that and right then and there you will here vinnie say "well thats a shame" or "well thats stupid they dont let you do that" or "that brings down a couple points to me" just annoys me they go into the quicklooks claiming to have played yet basic features they cant figure out on camera and already judge the game bc of those "missing" basic features

Yeah, as soon as that dude started talking I was amazed nobody recognized it. And now as I started typing this Rorie read that in chat.

Is this even a videogame!? How can anyone be sure? I mean wow a new MMoRPG that is like all the other MMoRPGs out there. No interesting new mechanics or anything really that cant be found in free to play mmos. For example, besides being in the elder scrolls universe; what does this game have that a game like neverwinter doesn't? You, as the player of said "game", are basically following quest markers and killing some stuff. You can say the same thing about skyrim or any open world game but at least those games have solid gameplay and immersive worlds to back up whats goin on with them.

Ok so my point is that this type of game has been done before and I expected more from this game. I just wanted it to raise the bar a bit more.

For me personally I played WOW way back and I was like, "this games boring dude". Then I played TOR and I encountered the very same issue. So maybe this games not for me. Haters gonna hate I dont have time for that psychic repulsion whatever I dont like the elder scrolls mmo it doesnt make me a criminal or a lecherous curr so I feel ok about that.

In what world is the gamplay in Skyrim "solid"? Combat in that game was pathetic, but was outweighed by the massive world and interesting storylines. For me, the combat in ESO is far more interesting than in Skyrim and the world, while less open for random exploration, seems just as interesting. Just that this time around you also have a really interesting PvP system and a cooler, more engaging crafting system... I don't know. I would rather play this than Skyrim any day of the week.

Neat. I only caught the part last night when Jeff fell through the world and had to go back to Little Steve.

A small part of me is interested in this, as I've always loved the Elder Scrolls games and the lore. However, an even larger part of me is not willing to play monthly for a game that looks merely okay. So is life.

Responding to hate is so tiring at times, but I'll say this. As someone who played in 3 beta's and really didn't enjoy some design decisions, I have put in 20 hours in the last 3 days and am loving it. Give it a shot if you feel so inclined, but don't cast aspersions without seeing for yourself.

@hayt: Haven't Bethesta even said that the game won't be canon? Seem to remember that. Good decision if so because a MMO will fuck up the lore of a universe, just look at WoW.

There was a time when Quick Looks meant the host always knew what they were talking about, but nowadays I just expect them to be very early impressions/first time playing.

I am at the very least avoiding this game at launch. Even if it's not still bug heavy there are going to be server issues like anything popular with an online component now a days.

I think this is a delightful experience that people should experience at least once through a character's alliance quest chains. 60 bucks and subscription is steep, but I'll think this is a good game to come back once in a while, just pay one month to see the new content and enjoy it.

I had awesome experience in the beta despite all the monster respawn issues, and it really rubbed some itches for a coop Skyrim, and felt like a good change of pace from other MMOs I have been playing.

Plus, I think this is just pretty all around with max graphics, and I liked the designs on the characters(sauf orcs) and on the dungeons.

This game has a lot of notable actors in here. Besides John Cleese there's Michael Gambon (he's the prophet at the very start of the game), Alfred Molina, Malcolm McDowell, Bill Nighy, Peter Stormare, and Kate Beckinsale.

@anund: Had a bit of a late night last night so my point, if I had one, was not articulated very well. I think the biggest difference between skyrim and the MMO is that the combat in skyrim was much more tactile and responsive. I mean sure, skyrim's combat systems are not well balanced and I think the gameplay has always been flawed but it does have that sense of impact and environmental interaction which I find compelling. For example, in skyrim you can fus roh da someone off the side of a mountain, shield bash people, make enemies fight each other etc. In an MMO you are just completing quests and equiping the best gear you have. The game is too automated and once you know what skills you like you just end up doing the same things over and over.

I know that some mmos like vindictus and dragons nest have managed to incorporate action based combat and I really enjoyed those games. I personally like really tight mechanically focused games and I find most MMOs far too boring, easy and repetitive. I even burned out quickly on the old republic despite the fairly decent story telling in that game. I wish games would move away from what wow did instead of copying the same skill bar based combat that has been in most MMOs that come out. I never liked wow much so I am a bit disappointed in TESO for not trying something more compelling especially since I love the world and lore in TES.

After playing games like Dragon's Dogma and even just MMOs like Final Fantasy XIV, I'm not sure I could ever go back to bashing on things ala WoW and TESO. FFXIV has a much more fluid and fun combat system and you gotta keep on your toes, even for pretty basic stuff early on. This just looks like a lot of "bash on stuff" game ala WoW.

ALSO I REALLY HATE that "female" equates to THIN WAIFER LITHE-LIKE FIGURE instead of someone with muscles and bulk and shit. Maybe it's embedded in the sliders, but the "default" they present just makes me shiver.

Man, this looks like it will be a big fat bomb. Big lifeless world full of people jumping from fetch quest to fetch quest. As someone who played lots of Skyrim and WoW, this inspires ZERO interest in me.

You pretty much summed it up. I played the beta. It sucked. The only redeeming feature is PvP, which actually looks kind of awesome. MASSIVE battles that involve sieging strongholds, setting up trebuchets, etc. That said, I don't have much interest in PvP if the rest of the game sucks.

There seems to be so much hate for this game either because a) it isn't a true ES game, or b) its not a good enough MMO. I never played an MMO, so I can't really comment on the latter, but as for the former, it isn't like this stopped development of the next ES game...Bethesda didn't develop it, so calm it on down. 90% of what I have seen has been from this long quick look, and to be honest it looks hella Elder Scrolls to me. If the console version is any good, I plan on giving it a try.

Unless, that is, Bethesda finally releases some Fallout 4 info, and distracts me.

It's funny that they spend so much money on this voice work when this is probably the reaction most people get out of it, for the 5 minutes of game time they spend on it. It seems they would rather have big name Hollywood actors who barely change their voices at all for the part than hire actual professional voice actors who would do a much better job for a fraction of the price. It's not just Bethesda (listen to Kiefer Sutherland in Ground Zeroes) or even the video game industry... Disney/Pixar do the same things, always big name screen actors. That's why newer animated movies have characters that sound like normal people talking instead of the awesome characterizations of old Looney Tunes stuff for example. I guess it helps with advertising or something...

I can see this being much more successful on consoles than PC. There is far less MMO competition on consoles and there really has not been one that has become the standard. Console players are familiar with Elder Scrolls and this may very well be the one that finally captures that market. On PC it seems like there are just too many other MMOs, most of which are free to play, for this to really succeed. I guess only time will tell but I am definitely excited about the PS4 version.

They'd better have. Also if "Vengeance!!!" guy doesn't make an appearance there really would be no reason for this to exist whatsoever.
