I loved this game yesterday a good 4-5 hours to find most if not all endings!

i generally hate indie games cause of the creators obnoxious attitude towards AAA games,but hell this thing is so goddamm clever.

This didn't convince me, where's the gameplay this was like the demo.

This game is really cool, you guys. Instead of watching this you should go buy it, play it for some hours then come back and watch this.

Well, this thankfully wasn't nearly as patronizing at that demo, but it still kind of irks me. Some of the humor is great, but a lot of it is a voice that just seems to be telling you how clever the game is, rather than directly experiencing that cleverness for yourself.

Still, I'm exited to play the thing for myself and see.

Looks great - it seems they've added quite a bit of stuff to the original mod, which was already a perfectly enjoyable experience.

I've heard of breaking the 4th wall....this shatters it.

If Beyond gets flak for not being a 'game' then this title aint either.

Douglas Adams would be proud and I do not say that lightly. This is absolutely brilliant.

So if I got kinda burned out on 4th wall breaking meta commentary from the mod, do I even want this? I know it's a new game, but I'd imagine it's tonally the same, but for longer and for money. Like, the whole idea of "Oooh you can NOT do what the game wants, pretty clever huh?" is really lame.

Wait you mean the demo was representative of the game? Shocker.

Quick PSA that if anyone hasn't played the game, worth playing the free demo first before watching this video. The demo is... pretty cool, as is the game.

ShaggE commented on this Quick Look, which he found quite amusing indeed. His mouse hovered over "Post Reply", thinking himself rather clever for aping the game's narrative structure. What ShaggE didn't know was that it was rather trite and obvious, and so his feeble attempt at humor was greeted by a wall of silence.

This is just unbearable. I never found that style of humour and narration even a little bit funny or clever. I thought maybe Jeff and Vinny would manage to make this entertaining but nope.

All i really want is to find the narrator and watch him drift in and out of consciousness as he's slowly disemboweled as the great and always subtle Trevor Philips once said. This is how much i find this grating.

Nah, Beyond mainly gets flak for its fanfic-level writing.

The "is this a game" pseudo debate is kind of grating tbh. Of course they are. Just like Dear Esther or Proteus are. A game is not constituted by shooting dudes in the head. People just use that as an exclusionary knockout against things they apparently don't like (or feel threatened by).

That was pretty great. Tempted to buy it now...

This looks really cool, I get a very Douglas Adams-y vibe from it, which is always a good thing.

Is this substantively different from the mod? Does anyone know? Looks very very similar to me.

Is it just me or does this game seem just a tad bit... pretentious? The narrator's delivery and the forced third-wall-breaking jokes just annoy me to no end.

@customotto: Bit much in the sense that i don't actively want to see the man suffer and die sure.

But i've been thinking about it since i played the demo and watched 10 minutes of that quick look. I can name plenty of style of humour i like, plenty more i don't care for, the typical "meh" reaction you know. But this, this is really the only thing i can think of that i find actually very unpleasant to listen to.

Oh man, the sooner the western audiences grow tired of that posh English accent - the better. I can't deal with it anymore.

Having a typo so early on kind of evaporated all of its cleverness. Ah well. It is an Indie game, after all, they can't afford too many proofreaders.

Of course, I typo like a dozen times per blog, so it's not I'm in any position to talk. Or write correctly.

I am gonna give the demo a try, but I am not really feeling this.

I love this experience. They should have stayed in the broom closet longer though. Easily one of the best bits out of the entire thing.

See, I actually really like the narration because it reminds me of a favorite cartoon of mine from childhood:

Dear Esther is an hour long tour of a boring museum exhibit where the only gameplay is holding down one button a steering.

I'm tired of it. I kept hoping the voice would shut up.

This game is fantastic and reaches near Fez level craziness if you take the time to dig deep enough.
