The last couple months, I've noticed brad has been saying "rote" CONSTANTLY. It's like he just discovered the word. Nothing wrong with that, just something i noticed is all. You think he has a word a day calendar and worked it into his vocabulary or something?

Even the way you can do stuff like turning off garret's voice makes it seem like they had no idea where they were going with this game.

"Do you think players like Garret talking randomly?"

"Eh I dunno, let's focus test it"

"Nope, no time for that , lets just add a toggle. Let the player decide if it's a good feature for us"

I disagree. I can run Battlefield 4 maxed out at 60+ FPS, and Splinter Cell Conviction still runs like messy garbage whenever I'm in an outdoors area.

that doesn't contradict the statement about power.

My point is that some games are not optimized very well for certain platforms.

I have a pretty strong PC and yet it's almost impossible for me to get Black Flag running at a near constant 60 FPS. Even when I drop textures to medium and turn off almost all extra stuff the bigger outdoor areas cause drops to below 40 frames - in multiplayer no less where the areas are already gated off. I have a 3.5 ghz 8 core AMD cpu, 16gb of ram, a brand new Samsung SSD with high transfer rates and a 2gb Radeon card. I just don't think at medium settings the game should still be struggling. It's really aggrevating after you drop a lot of money on your machine that PC games are often only as good as the port and not as good as the PC itself. I shouldn't have to strap two titans together to get a decent framerate on what is considered by the developer a mid-gen game.

Wow this game would be awesome maybe 6-8 years ago, there is so much wrong with this game.

Luckily/hopefully we will get other awesome games this year :).

I never played the original thief games - but did they have an american voice actor for the main character? I'm sorry, but the american accent mixed in with a whole lot of british accents in a setting that is clearly supposed to convey an old english industrial city, is really, REALLY jarring.

Hopefully I will at least enjoy this as a fan of stealth games and the old Thiefs.

Doesn't look that terrible.

Looks like I'll be switching that preorder to something else based on the reviews. I'll watch this video and make sure, but it seems likely I'll be switching it.

If there are significant differences, they look at both platforms.

So I rented this. While I am having some fun with it, it's making me want to reinstall Dishonored (which I enjoyed a lot). It might be a problem when a game that I was looking forward to finally comes out and instead of wanting to complete it, I want to replay a game that I finished two years ago instead.

I will never be able to understand people who are talking of game droughts. At any moment in time I have a backlog of at least 30-40 games.

Plus buying games at launch for 60 bucks is pretty stupid. Wait six months, let the price drop, the reviews roll in and the bugs get fixed.

That didn't stop them from using the 360 to do multiplats last gen. PS4 is the multiplat machine this gen.

Thanks for the QL guys, was waiting on getting this game & will probably get it on a steam sale when it's in the $20 range or less. Curious to see more but definitely not a day1 buy.

I think the problem here is, when the first two Thieves came out, the steampunk/industrial/medieval England setting and stealth gameplay itself were relatively novel. Most of us were playing Quake then. Thief games were mind blowing at the time.

In the meantime, stealth games have come out that did what those games did better and "steampunk" has become part of the vernacular. There's nothing original here anymore. They need to try much harder to make a good game out of what they've got.

That's why I stopped buying ATi cards, they are almost always the ones that have pretty bad compatibility issues.

Something feels off with that game, feels like the FOV is too narrow. Like someone walking around looking at the world through a 60mm lens or something along those lines. Have to get way too close to objects to interact. Also all the "you're in the dark/you're in the light" effects and frames are really bothering me.

Ah well, still lacking reason to get into this new gen of consoles.

Well, it certainly doesn't look great, but it at least seems a little better than they described on the podcast. Maybe I'll pick it up some day when it hits $10.

Also a great example of how awesome the cut scenes used to be. It's so terrible that they are using boring old CGI now.

Everything about this game just seems antiquated. If it had come out six or seven years ago it would probably have been well received, but it just doesn't hold up by today's standards. Dishonored just outshines it in every way.

I was watching this thinking, this is very similar to Hitman Absolution. The forced stealth when it is far easier to just run through it and activate the checkpoint. And then I checked, and yes, both from SquareEnix. I'll pass.

Same Publisher, different developers. Thief is made by the Deus Ex Human Revolution people and Hitman is made by the Hitman people. Thief and Hitman have nothing in common except for that the developers of the games have the same parent company.

And it's like saying, "FIFA 14 is pretty much the best sports game ever. It's made by EA, they made NBA Live 14, it must be a great game as well."(it's not, it's pure shit).

Doesn't look too bad actually, from everything I've seen around. Better than I thought it'd be for a thief remake. This looks to do a pretty good job at modernising the franchise but I didn't like the original thiefs that much either really.

Seems like you've gotta be ok with it being a slow and more methodical style of game. The ambient dialogue looks pretty cool. I can see getting bored of the same old settings.

I understand its a different team, but there still seems to be similarities between the games. Similar look and design in places. But I barely played Absolution and have only seen the Thief quicklook so I'm not in the best position to judge.

I really liked the original Thief and the second game back on PC.

Looking at this game, I guess I can't say I share the general negativity towards it displayed by the GB dudes. Seems to be a fun, contemporary take on the franchise.

I think I'm going to continue to pretend that Dishonored is Thief 4.
