Quick Look: Voltron: Defender of the Universe

As a kid, I once received a Vehicle Voltron action figure for Christmas from a well-meaning relative. I was not pleased, to say the least. Dude's got cars for feet, how can you fight evil effectively when you're wearing the robot equivalent of roller skates?

The music in this game is sick. Wish I could hear it better.

This makes me want to watch Voltron again even though I know it's aged horribly.

It looked like the two of you were having more fun than your final assessment suggests. Maybe the weird Voltron controls was a bad way to end things, but most of it looked pretty okay.

Wasn't Voltron a mash up of two separate anime series that were butchered together to form something that could sell more toys to american children of the 80s?

The Best part of this game is when you pause it, it says " We'll be back to Voltron after these messages" and unpausing has the announcement of, "We Now Return to Voltron, Defender of the Universe" It's such a nostalgic trip, and should have been shown. I'm sure they would have had they known.

There is a new Voltron show on nickelodeon. Maybe thats why this is out

Extra points for not looking at the controls/instructions before playing the game. Sure, this doesn't look that well made at all... but, sheesh...

I . . . wouldn't play this, but I do love the idea of forcing cooperation like that to make Voltron do anything. Lame that it's just a bunch of QTEs, though. Not that I could tell you a better way of doing it off the top of my head.

It looked pretty poor but for 10$, that's not half bad. They certainly could have done much worse. Voltron being an elaborate QTE is kinda sad though, even though I've never actually seen the show.

I think they really hit it on the head when he said 'well, I think i'm done with this now' referring to the nostalga factor wearing off. This game seems to feed on the impulse buy of nostalga. Are there that many people who grew up with Voltron that surf around xbox live?

I saw a show on Funimation channel called "Aquarion" which is kinda Voltron-esque. Only difference was they had 3 ships and when they got into formation, whoever was the leader decided what abilites the giant robot had.

I geuss Japan really loves their giant robot tv shows.

I don't know how they kept failing at that little minigame thing at the end, especially when it was kind of awesome that they did actually have to cooperate to be Voltron.

This game actually seems... kind of cool? I don't know!

New show on nick and new classic styled toys from mattel so a new game makes sense if they want to show how popular the franchise still is to help make a push for a new live action movie.

Yo, just a protip for people into this, if you like robots fighting each other in a more Mechwarrior kind of way. I suggest looking into Dougram and Armored Trooper Votoms. Those shows are pretty dope.

Votoms, is especially good if you like Jazz.

For a few seconds the guys were excited, then there was the crushing disappointment. I felt the same way too.

Not saying you need to, I've just come to expect it.

Most users type something short to attempt to get the quest then edit it into something more related to the video, and whenever I'm bored I like to quote those first comments before they change 'em.

It was a while ago but no I don't believe I changed mine; I may have written something on-topic and just got lucky. I don't think I was actively going for the quest.

As for quoting others, I've done it a few times. I'm rarely in an opportunity to see the first comments as I don't seem to ever be online when new content is posted, so its not been that many occasions.

I've noticed a trend over the years of people posting completely random short responses and then almost immediately editing them, especially if they don't get the quest and come in second or third. As someone who thinks the 'First' quest is ridiculous I like to post up the fantastic constructive comments people post, the best example being 'a'. Yeah, I saw someone put a single letter once...and yes they changed it afterwards.

Why do you ask all these questions? Am I under investigation? If your a cop, you have to tell me.
