A 360 controller? On PC? HERSEY! BURN THE HERETIC! REND HIS FLESH IN THE NAME OF THE EMPEROR!

Ok, now that that's out of the way. I tried playing the demo for this game and just couldn't get into it. What drove me nuts was the health system. You had to do some long drawn out animation to regain health, but the entire time you are doing it you are still getting hurt and taking more and more damage. It didn't look too bad when Vinny was playing, but I could still see it frustrating me to no end.

Sadly, I think I will be waiting for this to go on some Steam sale next Summer/Winter.

Probably mentioned elsewhere in the thread but the Ultra Marines are a Space Marine Chapter. The Ultra Marines are a pivotal chapter in the 40k lore, since the Codex Astartes that most chapters abide by was written by an Ultra Marine Primarch.

In the 19th century, the East India Company utilized the combat prowess of trained military units in order to protect their goods. After countless battles and triumphs, they became commonly known as "Spice Marines".

AmaZING.

The game looks a lot better than I initial thought it was. I'm sincerely considering picking up W40K.

Does the game have horrible horizontal tearing, or is it an issue with the video capture unit?

I am surprised, the game looks designed for a gamepad but plays surprisingly well on a mouse/keyboard. Also, the Ork actors sound too much like dudes with Cockney accents compared to how they were in Dawn of War. Script is a bit odd.

I feel like Ryan and Vinny were being a bit nice to this game, I mean there have definitely been brutaler (brutaler?) games, the gameplay is waaaaaay repetitive, and the physics are just jacked. I mean I know it's just acting it up for the QL but I'm with Jeff in that I think this universe is kind of dumb. I also don't like how the main protagonist of there games always looks like they cam from a teen pop magazine.

Good thing about Space Marine: Space British are the heroes. Nice to have a change of scene from Killzone. More characterisation of my countrymen is a good thing.

The standard Bolt Round consists of:

1. A solid-fuel rocket propellant base
2. An outer casing containing conventional charge
3. Gyrostabilizer
4. Mass-reactive fuse. Has a split-second timer to delay detonation upon impact until after the shot penetrates the target.
5. Hardened diamantine penetrating tip. This allows for the bolt to penetrate most armor before detonation.
6. Main Explosive Charge
7. Depleted deuterium core. This is a very dense material, adding weight and thus momentum to the round when in flight. This aids in the bolt's penetration of the victim.

A Bolt Round is a .75 calibre round. They hurt.

The demo was okay. I was already getting tired of the combat, however satisfying it may be, by the time it ended. I know people are sick of the comparisons (and that's not what this is) but Gears of War 3 is pretty much my go-to ridiculous action game for the month.

Maybe when this is $20 it'll be an okay purchase though!

@schiz_o_phren_ic: lol, when people like you say things like this I question why you even bother liking games. Open your eyes and stop trying to look for "problems."

Does it draw the Gears of War comparison because there's Space Marines? Hate to tell you, but Warhammer 40,000 existed way before the market was saturated with Space Marine characters and post-apocalyptic environments. There literally isn't anything this game draws from the Gears universe that it didn't do first.

Oh wait, they both use guns. Must be a Gears of War clone.

This right here.  They are the ones who "wrote the book" on "Default" space marines.  They only reason I pay any attention to the SMURFS is that my bugs have to eat them. :)

@dvorak: Shit yes! Love it love it love it!

For anyone who wants to know what some of the physical changes a possible Space Marine has to go through, to even try and become a fully fledged Battle Brother, click above. If they live to the final stage (each stage can kill you/leave you permanently physically and/or psychologically crippled), there is then about a 1 in 10 chance of them becoming a proper Adeptus Astartes.

Awww man, Vinny! Ultramarines are the dullest guys in the WH40K lore.

You want to see where 40K gets exciting, see Catachans (an Imperial Guard regiment consisting entirely of Rambos) and Harlequins (space elf ninja clowns who kill people with break-dancing and some of the most gloriously fucked up weapons in the 40K universe).

I was surprised to see Vinny be out of Bolter ammo at the beginning. I hadn't touched the thing yet at that point. But shooting is pretty satisfying, the bolter feels right.

And come on guys. The Ultramarines aren't THAT boring. They're one of the more heroic chapters of space marines, and space marines as heroes work way better in 40K than space marines as anti-heroes.
