Is this how it is when you're on LSD?

There's a PS1 game called LSD. This is tame compared to that.

God, I know. I keep watching Patrick's horror game features hoping they'll scratch the same itch, but they just never quite get there.

Was just looking at the Steam store whilst contemplating buying this. For $10 more you can get the 'Special Edition' of the game which includes an original artbook, just in case the game didn't provide you with enough nightmare fuel...

As a fan of the first game I'm really curious how the combat compares over the length of the game compared to the first. Is @brad doing a review? I would really appreciate that. At the very least I'm hoping for some Bombcast discussion next week since this week was eaten by Icelandic adventures.

also @brad I really hope you continue because the later game story revelations are... insane. Like somewhat similar to AC2 (but here it actually makes a lot more sense) in that everything you thought you knew about this world was WRONG.

Man, I hope this sells alright. I am so glad this game is out there and there are people like Brad and Scoops that really enjoy it. I mean, ostensibly Zeno Clash stands for everything I want out of video games, really unique art, colorful, highly varied, with deeply experimental gameplay. I just don't want to play it at all.

This video is making me physically ill. Maybe it's the FOV and/or the motion blur but huuurrgrblugluglhurgbrg.

Yeh I also felt a bit sick watching this. And the general freaky look of it doesn't help either. Everything about this game is so off-putting to me.

And now for another installment of the FFVII Endurance Run.

Brad: "Don't worry, just because one guy's dead doesn't mean--Wait, is he picking Aeris up? What's the robot doing? And now he's picking up--Did I just die? What?!"

Patrick: "Once that started, you couldn't stop it. It's ostensibly like animation priority. See, it picked up Bartlet, and Arliss was already picked up, and since Clod was dead, the game ended. Now we have to go back and pick up that Ice Mattress we missed. Is that how you say that? Materal? Mattress?"

Goddamn, that would be pretty amazing.

Never understood the FOV sickness people get. I've had motion sickness all my life and even as an adult will occasionally get really nauseous when facing backwards on a bus - yet no video game has ever made me sick.

This looks nice! The open exploration seems like a nice touch, I'm sure it makes the world feel better.
I loved the combat and the super weird elements of the first game, but it was just way too linear for my taste. Adding some exploration & side-quests into the mix is pretty cool. I'll be sure to pick this one up.

The vertigo can be induced from something similar to like looking up or down from really tall heights, or something related to that. A brother-in-law of mine can get vertigo pretty easily if the FOV is really abnormal, and he also doesn't like heights very much. Of course, it's different for everybody, so I dunno.

I've always said I'd love for a reunion of sorts- Kessler should get back with Steve, make their own Youtube channel, and finish Condemned 2! I swear they could have a kickass Let's Play channel if they did.

Me neither. The only game that made me feel sick was Far Cry 2 - and that was due to the visual effects of fatigue. The wobbling and blurring of your view were a bit too much, since I sprinted all the time.

Patrick, just for you to know, the people behind this game are Chilean, not Argentinian.

I know it sounds like a small detail, but given their history, its like confusing Irish with Scottish...

"Oh God, I have to run all the way over there again?"

Zeno Clash 2: Run All the Way Over There... And Back

I actually loved this game. For all it's complete balls-out weirdness and control quirks, it manages to be more endearing and probably more accessible than the first. I think having allies goes a long way. It was hard not to grow weary from every character trying to kill you in the first game.

Finished the game, OMG. Still some unanswered questions but are the Golems time travellers or are there different time periods/ages beyond the Zenozoik world? What was up with that white dream place with the room and furniture, then the gigantic Harp and Earth backdrop?!

There's so much more to the combat now thanks to the secondary weapons. They're life savers with groups of enemies (Golem Hand is godly).

The reverse kick is a godsend for off-screen attackers.

great quick look but i think you guys are remembering the first zeno clash way too fondly. I forget some things that Brad said but a lot of what he said about the first game is not true. For example, the basic enemies had great variety? I remember fighting the same guys often.

I agree, the fact that something weird exists is awesome. But the first one was over rated and its only value was as a curiosity piece, not as a good game.

@dg991: I'm with you on Zeno Clash 1; I loved everything about it except the part where it was a game you played. I don't know that I finished it, but I enjoyed the weird environments and got kinda into the weird story - I didn't find the moment-to-moment gameplay fun at all.

Is it just me, or does anyone else get really frustrated with the way Brad plays games? I don't know why it bothers me so much since it has no effect on my life, but I just can't understand why he does the things he does. That being said, I've had the XBLA version of the first game for years, but still haven't touched it. This looks equally intriguing and I'm glad to see ATLUS continuing their reign as the quirkiest publisher around.

Now I am really interested in playing the first game. This looks so weird.

Reminds me of the Orc Stain comic book. Absurd fun storyline + really weird world and creatures.
