It's a little annoying that Brad goes "I have no idea what that yellow bar in the middle is, they don't explain this game very well" at one point in the QL. Then about 45 seconds into the tutorial there's big red text saying "special meter." I so very much don't expect the guys to be experts at every game (sometimes the best stuff is when they just jump into something without any context) but I feel like for something like this, having a basic understanding of the stuff presented in the tutorial would be nice (especially since it explained most of his gripes about why the combat wasn't working the way he expected it to).

I totally understand when they miss some things when they're playing the games on live shows, but the fact is Brad played this off camera first and totally missed it. This happened constantly during the Chrono Trigger endurance run too, it made it pretty painful to watch at times.

It's not fun to watch people button past things and then spending ten minutes badmouthing the game for being unclear.

This looks as weird as it needs to be. The first game was nuts but left some plot holes. I'm looking forward to playing it when it comes out on consoles. Yo this PC version looks broken dawg. I know you want to show the best looking visuals but these PC captures run like shit on my monitor anyway. The UI and NPCs looked like an absolute mess. This may be one of those times that waiting for the console release might have been better for a more informative piece of game footage. Thanks for the video.

In my experience melee games like this play exponential better with a keyboard and mouse. I think it would explain why Brad was having such a hard time with the controls.

And now for another installment of the FFVII Endurance Run.

Brad: "Don't worry, just because one guy's dead doesn't mean--Wait, is he picking Aeris up? What's the robot doing? And now he's picking up--Did I just die? What?!"

Patrick: "Once that started, you couldn't stop it. It's ostensibly like animation priority. See, it picked up Bartlet, and Arliss was already picked up, and since Clod was dead, the game ended. Now we have to go back and pick up that Ice Mattress we missed. Is that how you say that? Materal? Mattress?"

They also explain pretty clearly how you get skillpoints. From those totems Brad had no idea about what they do.

I don't think they explain the secondary weapons at all, but maybe I missed it because I don't have that chain one somehow.

That chain one is never told to you how to get it because the game's gotta reward exploration and doing its sidequests somehow! :P

I should love the look of this game!

But the FOV is making me feel sick & this never usually a problem for me... also this has the same problem as the last Transformers... THE IS NO EXCUSE TO HAVE PARTIAL CONTROLLER SUPPORT IF THE IS A CONSOLE VERSION.

@yesiamaduck: There is no console version out yet and that's most likely the reason for the half-finished controller support on the PC version. Even dumb "controller tooltips" need to be drawn first and they gonna have to do them for the console versions no matter what, but for a PC version stuff like that is pretty low priority. Once those are done they just gonna patch those assets into the PC version.

Or would you rather have them delay the PC version/leave out controller support until the console versions are out?

The developers are aware of the controller issue, they're hoping to address it in the patch. I mentioned it to them.

@brad The moths can be collected to get some of the treasure the Moth Collector has hidden in house back in Halstedom (the house where a dude's leaning against the corner). He has 3 rooms of treasure, and the last one is hilarious when he doesn't want you to discover his...stash...

@brad The special meter allows you to use said attacks that require both triggers to activate, such as the forward double-punch, or the overhead hammer-punch. You build said meter by either ransacking those chests, or by stringing combos on your enemies.

Also, that uppercut can only be executed when the enemy is dazed, which ain't the same thing as stunned which is what you require for the grabs.

I love the damn game, but they really could explain some of the in-game mechanics a little bit better. I've yet to figure out how the heck it is you level, or what those tribal totems do.

Someone on Twitter said you get skill points from the totems, although I feel like I've found more totems than I've gotten skill points so far.

Or you know the part where it pops up on screen saying an ally has fainted. "Maybe the pathing is bad"

I was pretty impressed by Brads Metamoq impression at the beginning, I think i'll get this pretty soon.

Oh and an update for people who suffer from FOV related nausea, ACE team now has now somewhat addressed the issue. You can also edit the .ini file to change all the FOV settings to your preference.

This looks fucking great. Bit of a shame Atlus just kind of sneaked it out there. I heard it's pretty buggy, especially on the co-op side which is pretty much what I'm interested in. I'll wait and see if all that gets ironed out, then I'll probably check it out.

Some totems are for the fast travel, I'm not sure if they give out skill points. But yeah, it's the totems that give you the skill points.

@sarumarine: yeah that was always a letdown of this game. with how weird everything is around you, your character and his dialogue is surprisingly bland. this sequel for some reason doesnt look as fun as the first :(

That IS how you level the tribal totems give you points for you to put into skills, the game literally does not explain that which I think is ridiculous.
