Dark Awake is good as hell!!!!!!! You should check some uploads from a-cho, they play it pretty regularly and it's a real fun time seeing how they manage clash situations and what teams they build. The spot you gave it is well-deserved!

Ooh, Ben's hair has come out of hibernation under that cap and it's gotten pretty big. I was expecting a bald spot, that's usually what that signifies.

It was a pity when Capcom put out Darkstalkers Ressurection as a test case for whether or not to make more Darkstalkers. It's great that you're porting your ancient games to new consoles with added bonuses - but the sales of that kinda product isn't a good metric for how much a brand new modern Darkstalkers game is gonna sell.

Dark Awake seems pretty amazing, but there's some odd stuff about that animation. Troll especially gives me the vibe that they did some stuff to a 3d model.

My first fighting game was a terrible one for the Amiga CD32 called Dangerous Streets, I hope they cover it one day.

That Dark Awake game manages to both have a pretty cool style, while also being garishly ugly. It looked pretty fun too, which I didn´t expect.

I thought these were supposed to be scientists!? That list placement of Darkstalkers is mind boggling. I can't believe the only real scientist there was overruled so swiftly. We really need to get this published ASAP so the peer review process can get underway and negate these findings.

Is there a good way to play Darkstalkers these days? Seems like they might be using some non-console means to play some of these older games?

The scene for Darkstalkers 3/Vampire Savior has been gaining some steam lately, so hopefully this introduces some people to it! If you wanna get an introduction to high-level Darkstalkers play, scope the Evo 2017 Vampire Savior side tournament, and if you wanna see how ridiculously hype this game can get, check out the 1v1 tourney from Super Battle Opera 2.

@telliot They're definitely emulating the original arcade version of Darkstalkers 1. The tournament standard is Darkstalkers 3 aka Vampire Savior, and Darkstalkers Resurrection on XBLA/PSN is a great port of that game.

Also, I forgot how good the animation was for Darkstalkers and how much it influenced the rest of Capcom's 2D games. But this is Ranking of Fighters, not Thanking of Fighters.

Darkstalkers being one slot worse than a bad Capcom fighter and way below fucking SFxT is insane. That's 100% Jeff not liking monsters or taking it seriously in '94 or whatever the fuck, not science.
