This Ain't No Game: TANG: Final Fantasy VII Advent Children

Great video.  I thought the movie looked great but man, was it slooooooooow.  I suppose that's the nature of Japanese anime--very slow and introspective with flashes of action.  I suppose that despite trying REAL HARD, i've never gotten really into an anime--oh well.  Great review of a boring movie with a confusing as hell plot.

I just put this in my Netflix queue yesterday! Not a FF fan at all...now I am worried.

i thought the bahumut part was ok. the best part for me was the tifa fight. but having not played ff7 it took me 3 or 4 watches to actually understand the movie, and by then i was tired of it. it really does wear on me after a while like ryan said.

So basically, it's a cheesefest based off one of the most overrated games of all time. Sounds awesome.

i really liked ff7 the only problem i had with it and ryan mentioned it was that the story was hard to follow but i forgive it dont let the review scare you away from the movie love tang though

I love the TANG! I watched Advent Children and I havent played a FF game in my life! I loved it and it didnt really seem like a chunk of story was missing! I love over the top movies!

I loved this movie purely for the fan service and anime-style action.  It's a shame the story was awful, because the story is why I play final fantasy games.

That crazy outro was crazy awesome.

Thanks for summing up the obvious in a thousand or so words.  Clearly the entire movie was a nod to the hardcore fans.  With the exploited option to make more profit.

Ryan has some good points.  The pacing really does ware on some, over time.  I agree.  But what exactly did I just watch?

This supposed to be some sort of review or just Ryan's opinion on a movie?  These Giant bomb guys are all just jerks. 

I'm not really into FF fan anymore at all.  Kinda hate it.  But Ryan is just making videos to piss people off.  He was trying really hard not to be bulligerent.  I get that you hate FF fans, Ryan.  But why the fuck would you alienate such a huge fan base?

I loved AC. I also loved FFVII. But, I totally agree with Ryan. This movie wasn't meant to introduce people to these characters as much as it was to service fans one more time. I'm okay with that. Soothsayer? I didn't feel alienated at all. In fact, I know it's freaking stupid to get angry because someone doesn't like a video game or even a movie for that matter you don't. Hopefully, other fans are the same way. Ease up man..you sound like the beligerent prick here.

As always, nice review Ryan, enjoyed this one a lot, I thought the movie was pretty kick ass, and so was the game.

Great Job Ryan ! I love this movie, I'm definitely going to buy Final Fantasy 7 Advent Children Complete on blue-ray when it comes out.

Funny, I rented this on Netflix a few weeks ago. It's a pretty cool movie, even for someone like me who never even played a Final Fantasy game. Advent Children was a lot better than The Spirits Within.

And Barret (the black guy) looks so much like R. Kelly. Reeeeal Talk!

You the hit the nail right on the head with this one.  Great movie for fans, but it will probably do nothing for most people.  On the other hand, it's almost worth watching just to see the incredible action and beautiful animation.

This movie is awesome. The story: forgettable; but it's the crazy-ass action scenes that keep you coming back again and again.

Awesome fanservice. However, Ryan made 2 key mistakes.

1. You watched it dubbed. Come on Ryan, watch it in Japanese, the dialogue is less hammy.
2. The best part of this movie was Cloud vs. Sephiroth. WHO CARES ABOUT THE BIG CREATURE THING?! IT'S A FF7 MOVIE!

One of the few video game movies that I could actually enjoy.

Hell I dont know ANYTHING about FFVII (I only got in at 8), but i kinda got through it enough.

I was confused the first time I watched this movie. Then I went and played FF7. During my second viewing it was all "Oh I get it now".

Great episode, I just saw this yesterday for the first time so it all makes so much sense!!!!!!

Not a huge FF fan, but I like that it clearly pleases the gamers who love it so.

Aw man I hated that scene where their all throwing Cloud into the air.  It's so incredibly corny.

I rather watch a videogame based movie that caters to those that played the game, then the mainstream.

TANG is AWESOME!  I just got this movie from ebay, and not being a FFVII fanatic, I felt that I needed illicit narcotics for it to make sense.  Graphically it was fantastic, and since that's the reason that I bought it, I didn't feel all that cheated.

It could have been better story-wise, and it really is all fanservice, but for what it is I enjoy it.

I'm a huge FF fan, but this "movie" is ridiculous in an awful way. It's pretty CG and decent fan service, but it adds nothing to the canon and its fight scenes are preposterous, even for FF. Go buy Crisis Core if you want to get nostalgic and actually learn something about the world of Final Fantasy VII.

I like Advent Children, some of you guys take it too seriously, though...
