Ah good old trucking. It is sad how neglected the subject of trucking is at gaming sites.

I come from a family of (Canadian) truckers, so I've heard some stories. Be careful around trucks, kids. That's my pro tip of the week.

The timing of the Quantum Break announcement is a weird one, you'd think it would have happened at one of the past major conferences, but fuck those people who are angry about it no longer being an exclusive.

You really shouldn't take the recommended specs so seriously if you don't know what that implies.
Like you don't know if recommended is for the max settings at 4k or something.

I thought you guys would know better instead of saying you will need a 980 Ti to play quantum break. There is no way you can't play a game coming also to consoles if you have a decent pc (which can be really cheap : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iipDWbd6HNg) .

Then again there have been a few bad ports recently such as MKX and Arkham Knight but there are the exceptions more than the norm.

Although the perceived gap in quality between PC and consoles seems larger than in past eras, I felt Jeff B did a great job of emphasizing cost as a huge barrier to entry. I'd love to have a PC and a console, but it's just not feasible for myself and a lot of "gamers".

But doesn't that just highlight the big issue with companies setting recommended specs? That we're not able to take it at face value and have to have some sort of assumed knowledge to translate what it actually means?

@omgfather: I have no dog in this race, and I'm not sure how Microsoft talked about this game before but I think it's shitty if they didn't say anything about it going to other places even in a Tomb Raider way and now they say it's coming to pc at the 11th hour.

Like you said, if this came out at e3 then that's cool people would still be shitty about it but you at least couldn't blame Microsoft for pulling a fast one. This just feels like MS trying to have their cake and eat it too (get ppl excited for the game to buy an xbox during holidays then get the pc people too.)

If they did hint at it coming to pc before then I'll take back what I said, but from what I'm hearing it's kinda crappy, not the end of the world though.

I know there's no Assassins Creed game this winter, but I'm guessing Ubisoft will have Assassins Creed at E3, as a trailer for the movie.

The PC discussion is interesting to me as someone who not 12 hours ago said "Huh, I don't think my laptop can run Firewatch, guess I should get a PS4."

Something that gets overlooked a lot of time in both podcasts' discussions - some people just prefer consoles to PC. I can afford a quality PC, I know how to use them, I just prefer the simplicity of the console. As I get older I have less time to dedicate to gaming, and I have other hobbies. So any time spent trying to maintain the PC's ability to play games, any time spent trying to figure out why a particular game isn't working, isn't worth it for me.

So if you're baffled MS and Sony have sold so many consoles, as Bakalar said, maybe give that idea a look.

Haven't listened yet but yeah I'm with you I just prefer the console.

I am indeed a patron of Vinny's simulator performance art.

I think Jeff kind of hit the biggest thing in the console vs pc thing, that maybe Vinny wasn't really considering as much, which is price and just ease of use - I own a pretty decent gaming pc but I bought the Witcher 3 on PS4 because I know I can run the Witcher 3 on console.

The GB guys just can't see outside the bubble sometimes. They've been worried about consoles since the Wii U launched, but besides the Wii U consoles have never done better. Fewer games are out because they cost soooo much more to make which is a different problem. But I do know one thing: If the only way to play modern games were on a pc the industry would crumble. Fact.

It's a team effort between consoles and pc, but the console has always been the backbone of the industry, the pc gives consoles makers a reason to upgrade, but the pc cannot support gaming as it is. There aren't enough people to support the industry who want to pay the higher cost of the pc along with the unseen costs of time and fiddling around. What other major medium requires that of their customers? Non.

A dedicated box of whatever kind will always be around for the same reason the majority of people don't build their own car they just buy one. They don't want to worry about the BS, they just want to drive.

Alex is the only one I can trust to reference Joyride, the horror trucking movie.
