Thursday Night Throwdown: 02/17/11

I'm not paying for another subscription... This is stupid. Make money by advertising, you got PLENTY of opportunities for it. I am a college student and I eat ramen almost every night on my floor... and I imagine there are plenty of video game enthusiasts out there in the same boat. Temporary poor SOBS. Its really annoying every time I see a "paid member only thing" for something like this.

Why are people complaining about something that was never archived on the site in the first place? Subbers pay to support the bandwidth cost of hosting these massive files. Makes sense to me.
 
And there's always justin.tv. It's all in HD there, too, and free!

Thank you for hosting these on giantbomb! Justin.tv has never worked for me (Apparently it doesn't play well with certain ISPs?) so it's great to finally be able to see some TNT!

It's a shame nobody in the office is into Tekken, VF is pretty dire in its production values.

My personal choice for the next VS Capcom Game? Kellogs VS Capcom - imagine all your favorite breakfast cereal mascots battling all of your Capcom favorites. And yes, the cornflakes rooster would be a playable character. 

God, Virtua Fighter looks so boring! As someone who grew up with the Vs. series, the slowest I can go is Super Street Fighter IV, I don't get the people who say that MVC3 is too fast.

the last TNT is still viewable to everyone , which is weird
 
are they going to get rid of the JustinTV archives, or their account there, or what?
 
if the GiantBomb staff could explain where this is going in the Bombcast or something (unless they already have somewhere), that'd be great

I dont understand how people can complain about not getting to watch the best version of something they arent even supporting when you can watch the regular version for free over at JTV.  Lame imo.  

Barf. I wish you guys had started this with the First Strike TNT :(. I want to see myself 1) kill Jeff and 2) get the final killcam in HD. Oh well, and as others have said, thanks for putting these on the site!

That's an interesting decision. I don't so much watch these as I listen to them while playing on a console or something though, so the JTV one is fine.

I think their mistake was offering up the first TNT Archive free. As soon as I saw it I thought "Now that's something I would have paid for access to" but I also immediately thought "Switching it to paid now would just bring rage out of everyone for taking something away." This seems to be GB's major downfall on the subscription front. They haven't really come up with anything awesome to subscribe for, they just keep trying to charge for content that used to be free.
