Unfinished: Galak-Z: The Dimensional 03/21/2014

I'm not really into indie games, roguelikes or any combination of the two but this is extremely well designed and put together, so I'm going to buy it twice just to support the developer, even if I don't end up playing it a lot. More indie games like these please (in terms of quality/non faux 16 bit graphics)

Scrapping the Haunted Temple Studios name was such a bad move. That was right up there with Dead Alien Cult for radical company names.

I was kind of meh on this when I first heard that 17bit went from Skulls of the Shogun to a twin stick shooter but this is just gorgeous. Looks really fun to play and I've loving the art direction.

Pretty much buying this to support Jake Kazdal (bought Skulls again on ios), seems like a real solid indie developer that doesnt badmouth AAA games, him and Rami from Vlambeer. are becoming some of my Favorites in the indie games scene.

This game looks fucking rad, I just absolutely love how it looks. Good to see a QL on it after the dev's laptop broke during the GDC stream :)

This looks cool. I'm glad there aren't any "This is not a Rogue-like" comments yet.

I think this is the first time I've seen a space shooter where the terrain was a vital part of your strategy.

First time I'm seeing any footage of Galak-Z since the little glimpse from Sony's E3 presser. I'm not a big fan of the meme, but damn it:

The ship kinda reminds me of the Viper from BSG, not any anime ship.

Awww man, Patrick asking about invincibility frames like he has any exposure paying attention to them outside of Dark Souls. That's adorable.

Game looks really great, hopefully the devs have more success with it than they did with the Windows 8 boondoggle that Skulls of the Shogun had to deal with.

I could see stealth working in this game, MGS-like. Latching onto rocks and turning on soft camo to hide, cardboardboxing into a supply unit, close-range EMP snuffing out of enemy craft, flying a slow but steady and silent engine.

This will break down quickly in later levels just like almost every other indie thats "too cool" with it's little gimmicky mechanics that sorta work.

I wasn't sure about this one at first, thinking "Oh another space shooter- seems like indies do that because its so easy"

This game looks way cool. Now I feel bad for thinking my initial thought. The end episode credits were an awesome touch as well.

This looks really good, the whole early space anime thing is nailed pretty hard. The only thing that kind of rubs me the wrong way is the characters, they look a little TOO rough for what they're going for.

@bisonhero: I know that it's cool to hate on Patrick, but do you really need more exposure to a concept than that to ask a question? How many games would one need for you to not act like a dick?

Looks cool. I remember the dumptruck about this game a while back, and seeing it in motion has me looking forward to it a whole bunch.

As someone who spent thousands of quarters on Asteroids in the arcade, most definite a must play on PC.

Disappointing the rpg elements are very minimal, from what it seems.

That art style looks AMAZING ! I was not really excited before this Quick Look but now I can't wait. This looks really really fun.

Well, this is the first game that's made me legitimately consider getting a PS4. Tempting!

In Galak-Z, you're unhittable for kind of a while when you activate that dodge move; it seems generous. So it came across as Patrick being proud of himself for knowing a fancy term he learned recently when he could've easily said "So their shots won't hit you during the dodge roll?"

I know Giant Bomb draws a certain crowd, but not everybody knows what invincibility frames are. It's not really a term worth pulling out unless you really have to.
