Simple

Overview

"Simple" refers to multiple series of budget-priced Japanese games that, while developed by numerous separate companies, were all published by D3 Publisher. Generally, the price of the game was in line with what is stated on the cover (for example, the "Simple 1500" series of games were originally released close to 1500¥), although later titles scrapped this idea.

Each game name is prefaced with "THE" and is generally known for their simplistic themes and low quality. While originally focused on "table games" (such as mahjong, go, and shogi), the series received numerous games spanning numerous genres. Some of these games received sequels, with some established outside of the "Simple" series (such as the Earth Defense Force and Oneechanbara series).

Many of the games in the series were released outside of Japan by other budget-focused publishers (such as Agetec, Midas Interactive Entertainment, and 505 GameStreet), with some released by D3's international subsidiaries. These versions go by different names, eschewing the "Simple" branding altogether.

The series also received budget re-releases of well-established games, such as Simple 1500 Series Vol. 68: The RC Car - RC de GO! and Simple 1500 Series Vol. 93: The Puzzle Bobble - Puzzle Bobble 4.
