New gameplay footage started to pop up recently:

I totally dismissed the game when they showed the first trailer,but I'm actually considering checking it out now.
Impressed by the new footage? the music? the graphics? or do you think it looks like complete and utter garbage?

Sonic Colors
Game » consists of 14 releases. Released Nov 12, 2010
Sonic Colors sees the Blue Blur boldly going to space in a 2D/3D hybrid platformer featuring power-ups, large stages, and some of the fastest speeds in the Sonic series.
New gameplay footage, colour me excited.
It seems like the good part of Sonic Unleashed. Hopefully they find enough ways to make enough of those levels and make it not boring but worth a the $50-$60 price tag they will charge for it. The fact that it is like Mario with picking the levels bothers me a bit.
" That first screen give anybody else a weird "Super Mario Galaxy" vibe? "DOOD YEAH! And there's suits? Regardless it looks fun and I heard it was developed by a new team so hopefully this game will be good.
I'm not digging the abilities.
SPIKES!
ROCKET!
But it looks worth picking up from the bargain bin to me.
I'm digging the abilities, but I'm not digging Sonic yelling the name of it every single time it's used.
@TheHT:
In all honesty..I think Sonic Colours looks a million times better than Sonic 4.
@SethPhotopoulos:
And yeah..I'm also a little worried about the length of the game, but I guess we'll find out soon.
Sega seems to want everyone to hate them, between arbitrarily cutting content out of the Yakuza games (you could literally walk up to buildings which were still marked on the map and just not be able to enter), chopping Sonic 4 up into 3 pieces so they can charge 45 dollars, and doing a terrible port of the PS3 version of Bayonetta, I can't get excited for anything they do.
The gameplay I've seen before reminded me of the good parts of Sonic Heroes, this reminds me more of Unleashed. Either way this looks like it could be ok as long as they won't, aside from a few bosses, require you to fight enemies with more than 2 hp. Worst part of Sonic heroes was stopping to fight those big, hammerwielding, robots.
The gimmicky color powers seem to have the potential to slow down the game a bit (like that spikeball), making you lose your momentum. Though it also looks like they could help vary up the gameplay, and some of the powers (like the rocket) seem to keep the momentum going nicely. I also dug the music, at least on that particular stage.
It's a wait and see for me.
" IT'S SONIC SO IT MUST BE SHIT DERP.I'd have more sympathy for your arguement if every Sonic game for the past decade hadn't been mind bogglingly bad.
Actually, it's one of my most anticipated games of the year. I played this level at Gamescom and I thought it was great. "
Yes, some people take their hatred of things too far and refuse to accept something might be good.. but in Sonic's case, I think this train of thought is justified, especially after the recent release of Sonic 4.
That being said, this game doesn't look horrible. But from what I've seen, it still suffers from the same problem as most Sonic games. Horrible level design. Much of the game just seems to be running forward, occassionally jumping to avoid an obstacle. It's just dull.. what happened to the large, multi-tiered levels from the original games? There's more to Sonic than just speed. This video did show parts that seemed to be a bit more in line with classic Sonic, although I'm not so sure about the power ups, these bits did look much better. Hopefully the game is more of that, and less of the random running.
Bottom line.. I can't say I'm excited. But it does seem more worthy of the title "Sonic 4" than whatever that POS they released last week was.
As said above it looks like all of the best parts of Unleashed. Hopefully it doesn't fall into that trap of hitting you with a ridiculous platforming section in the middle of a really fast level, I cannot count the amount of times I was like "I dunno what everyone is on about, this game is awesome...Fuck!fuck!fuck! game over!... I hate this game!" I'd like to see what the DS version of this game is like because I really liked what I saw in this video.
It also gives me hope after the hugely mediocre sonic 4.
I'm not digging the announcer or the suits and the menus take too heavily from Super Mario Galaxy for my liking but it doesn't look bad. I'll reserve my full judgement until there's more info around on the game but at the moment it's certainly looking better than some of the most recent Sonic games.
" @WinterSnowblind: Here's your platforming (though it doesn't have a lot of alternate paths):I can't help but to think of Chris Redfield when he talks.As for alternate paths, they're in the first act of Planet Wisp. This video shows them a bit better though:Also, there are acts with multiple endings. Like in the first act of Planet Wisp, the player gets to a different ending than I got when I played it at Gamescom and the players in other videos of the same act. "
