Soulcalibur is probably my favourite fighting game franchise. The second game is a complete marvel and the fourth is profoundly underrated, so I'm definitely excited to see what they do with a fifth game.

I was a big fan of the first two games, but 3 and 4 were pretty dire..  The fighting never really evolved and they just padded them out with silly guest characters and bad extra modes.

Normally I'd say yes, but after the shitfest that was #4 they're gonna need a lot of cool features to keep up with MK9, MvC3, or even BB:CS2 and to convince me it's worth buying.

I read an article that reffered to it as Ivy's Breasts Part: 5. They've clearly gone wrong somewhere if thats all people are focussing on.

I did like the first couple of games, but 3 & 4 were both pretty tedious.

2 was amazing, and I thought 4 was underrated as well, though it really could have done with more of the deep single player mode that 2 had, I loved that game.

Only if I can have a four-way tag match between Link, Yoda and Ivy's boobs. Otherwise, no thanks.

I'll play it. I guess I'm one of the few people who were able to look past the startwars bullshit and find an incredibly fun fighting game underneath. There was more to that game than Ivy's boobs.

Maybe they'll put in a story mode where they explain how the Soul Calibur god created a world much like our own, except the weapons were only as strong as Nerf bats to keep things amusing for that god.

It is a fighting game. For that reason alone I am all over it.

I want this to be good, I really do. I adored the first one, but 3 & 4 were horrible.
They really need to step it up in order to compete with MK, SFIV and MVC3 among other premium fighters.
Scrap the Create-A-Fighter feature, put some effort into fleshing out the characters, do a proper story mode (MK one comes to mind here) and focus on refining the fighting system.
But like WinterSnowblind mentioned, not really a fan of the "new generation" stuff.
Cautiously optimistic, but expecting the worst tbh.

I am, I have really fond memories of playing Soul Calibur 2 on my friend's Game Cube. I just wish they would tone down the boobage and go back to a less crazy design, even on the male characters. Nightmare looks awful on SCIV.

Fuck yes, I bought SC4 on ps3 and 360, sunk at least 100-150 hours between both versions by now.  Can not wait for sc5, aside from MK its the only other fighter I've been looking forward to for the past 3 years.

Also unlike other people I hope they go even crazier with create-a-fighter, it was probably 60-70% of the reason I sunk so much time in to sc4, was like an rpg loot fest but specifically for creative types such as myself, loved that shit.

Never saw the appeal of Soul Calibur, it always came off as clunky to me.

I can't believe how negative people are being about a game that has almost no info out. I for one am excited to see what happens.
