Street Fighter IV exhibition match: Gambit1986 (Cammy/Sakura) vs. loltima (Akuma). Went the extra yard by making this widescreen, since the game footage is only 4:3 that leaves room for me to have arcade stick footage on the left. Pretty cool stuff. He sent me a message saying that I shouldn't "let him win," but as you'll see in that video from my reactions I definitely didn't let him win. Also availible at loltima.net if you're interested.

edit: Also, The GameStop SFIV Nationals were on April 18th, and they just might be the most hype matches of the century! Includes Mike Ross & Justin Wong (USA), Iyo & Daigo (Japan), and Poongko (Korea). Check out the playlist here. In the end, Justin Wong could beat everyone but one person -- you can probably figure that one out yourself.

gambit would've been so much better off if he hadn't kept throwing out random ultras.   Guess I'm a hypocrite because I pull that shit all the time because it works against scrubs, but then I still do it against good players because it's a habit.

Now we're thinking the same way. I'm afraid I won't pick up on SF. I've always been a Soul Calibur kind of guy, and even then, I used about the same five moves.

Agreed. Only in that first match was his ultra really well timed. Gambit, use your ultra sparingly! Loltima, on the other hand, appears to have his Ultra down. Akuma's is really difficult to use and really easy to avoid.

The problem with Akuma's ultra is that a grandma grocery-shopping in a wheelchair could still avoid it. There's only three things I can do with it: bait a jump/dash-in with weak fireballs and hope I catch them out of the air, punish blocked special/super/ultra, or hit it out of a level 2/3 focus attack after dashing.

Gambit, you got a pretty sick Cammy.  One thing I noticed was a lack of Cannon SPIKES, which I'm guilty of as well.  However, there's a nice LP/LK/Spiral Arrow combo that usually puts them on their ass, and it's about 60% effective to jump-in with a cross-up afterwards and throw a Cannon Spike on them from their recovery.

Also, Spinning Knuckle HP overrides Hadokens, which means you will either get in a couple of quick punches and a knock down on him...or you'll get punished with a throw.

And I agree with LiquidPrince on the first Ultra finish.  I ROFL'd like crazy.  That was a Hail Mary if I ever saw one!!!  = D

Ultima...I'm waiting for my close-up.  Whenever you're ready, we'll schedule some time.  I'm off on Wednesdays and Thursdays.  = D

It's weird that Justin beat Japanese champ Iyo, and Korean champ Poongko, but couldn't get one round on Daigo. Both of the former players had close matches with Daigo, so it's a bit puzzling. I bet he had some mental flashbacks against him or something.

The fifth round Poongko vs. Justin Wong, absolutely sick.

Using Cammy, don't forget you can focus attack, dash in after it connects, and ultra before your opponent has a chance to drop to their knees.  It's probably the best way to land Cammy's ultra--or super, for that matter--but if you mess up and your opponent has a chance to fall too far after the focus attack, hardly any of the ultra will hit them.  The timing is a bit of bitch, but it's still by far the safest way to go about making sure you don't waste your ultra.

Now if I could just listen to my own advice and keep myself from ultra-ing obviously blocking opponents from half a screen across. : P

[edit]  That, or just play like this Cammy player:

I swear, I can't watch a single SFIV match anywhere like this, and not immediately feel the need to want to pop it up right on the spot and play some :P
