Syndicate is the kind of game that haunts everyone who has worn a tin foil hat in their life. The precious government we all know and love has been replaced by a handful of malevolent conglomerates who control all five of our senses with brutal efficiency. This may not be the precious isometric RTS you remember from ‘93, though Starbreeze isn’t new to spawning something fresh from old IPs.Being a scientist comes with its own set of risks. The year is 2069 and you play as Miles Kilo, a promising a...

    Syndicate Review: Syndicool 11

Syndicate. A name somewhat long forgotten in the face of video games today. What used to be a critically-acclaimed real time isometric strategy game has been transformed into what some have said was nothing short of a generic first person shooter. A bastardization of something that had no right to be " just another shooter".Of course, when Syndicate was announced not long ago, everyone seemed to have something to s...

It does little, but damn good 0

Note: This review is based on the single player campaign. I've played a couple of sessions of the co-op and it seems superb, but I can't comment on it in any detail.I had an absolute blast with Syndicate's single player campaign, and I didn't expect to. I was a big fan of the original game, and I was as much a skeptic as anyone could be, but Syndicate won me over very quickly, and became its own game. That game stands out as the best first person shooter I've played on a console since the origin...

Syndicate’s future world is about divisions; the divisions in the economic and political landscapes, between consumer and outcast where people are interfaced with the Datascape through neural chips that feed them a constant stream of data. That world is run by the mega corporations who plot, steal, manipulate and sabotage for the sake of patents, personnel and profit and each employs its own military and special agents to safeguard its bottom line. The original Syndicate from the mid-nineties of...

This is Starbreeze Studios attempt at resurrecting a series that unfortunately disappeared before its time. Syndicate was once a Real-Time Tactics game, but for this iteration it is a First Person shooter. You will be taking on the role of Kilo a cyber enhanced individual working for one of the corporations/syndicates that basically rule the world. You will be sent on missions, and you'll have your fair share of enemies whose powers will match your own.Graphically this game looks a bit dated. T...

Syndicate Reviewed by Doc D StrangeStory/GameplayThat's a good guy right? The year is 2069, corporations are more powerful than the government's of the world. One of these corporations is EuroCorp in Manhattan NY. You play as Miles Kilo a agent that works for EuroCorp. Miles is special ofcourse because he has the Dart 6 chip in his brain. Which allows him to hack objects in the world and chipped up people. Jack Denham is the CEO of EuroCorp, he's the one that gives you the orders to go steal tech...

I Honestly love this game. 0

The story line is pretty good, except for the ending, other than that though, the story line is easy to follow and its interesting. guns are oodles of fun, with a secondary mode that switches between sights, or ways of fire. the combat is neat, with cool death animations and kickass parkour....

Five years from now, the world as we know it will change. Governments will collapse and mega corporations will take over as the new leaders of our technologically driven world. Neural implanted chips will make electronic devices obsolete, supplying us with a vast wealth of knowledge at the tip of our fingers. That is the world of the future, or so that’s how it goes in Syndicate. But recreating a game in an entirely new genre renders a huge amount of risk. Syndicate is nothing like its counterpa...

    Decent at best. 2

Syndicate is nothing more than a decent First Person Shooter. Some elements were added to keep it fresh like hacking and powers, but it doesn't change how basic combat works. Co-op is fine I guess, but with middling combat it really isn't that important. Don't waste your time with this. It does nothing for the Syndicate name, which is a major bummer....

In the world of Syndicate, your chip is worth more than your life 0

I first played this when it was released on Xbox 360 back in 2012. I remember it being a solid four star kind of game but as I had also recently played Deus Ex: Human Revolution, my expectations going into Syndicate (2012) were heavily influenced by the experience I'd had with DX:HR and were not fully met as a result. But I don't want to be too down on Syndicate because there's a lot about it that I really like. On the game play side of things, there's some really cool systems in the single playe...

    Future perfect? 0

The cyberpunk revival started by last year's Deus Ex: Human Revolution continues with Syndicate, a reimagining of the 1993 cult classic as a first-person shooter. Corporate warfare has transformed, as global corporations vie for control over the world's population by selling them brain chips that transform them into the uber-consumer many marketers surely dream of, perpetually plugged into their controlled information networks. Those without chips barely even qualify as humans anymore, as they'r...

With Syndicate, Starbreeze Studios brings back a strategy game from the 90's and turns it into a Sci-fi shooter with co-op multiplayer. In the game's campaign, you play as Miles Kilo, a silent protagonist and newest Syndicate for Eurocorp, a company with some shady dealings as they publicly promise the freedom of spreading information to their clients and the public. Behind the scenes though, they send out Syndicates to eliminate targets who are rebelling or competing with their progress and the...

A proper reboot into a new generation 0

If you told me they were remaking Dungeon Keeper as a third person hack and slash with a linear story and a remixed intro by Nicki Minaj I might slap you - but it’s this sort of gut reaction that so often tends to steer us away from good old fashioned fun. Syndicate is a game developed by Starbreeze known for their fine work on the Riddick franchise and their knack for presenting an immersive first person experience. Modeled, loosely, after the early 90’s isometric game bearing the same name - w...

Fantastic Co-op manages to save Syndicate from mediocrity 0

In this age of multi-million dollar shooters and inflated development budgets, it’s impossible to imagine a reboot of a 90’s classic strategy game not undergoing some serious changes to appeal to the average player. Rather than try to update an old formula, Starbreeze Studios (they of The Chronicles of Riddick and The Darkness fame) have taken the name and a few thematic elements of 1993’s Syndicate and bolted them on to an admittedly competent and satisfying first-person shooter that manages to...

Syndicate: like Deus Ex, but with trepanation 0

Originally posted on CustodianFilmCritic.comIt’s been nearly 20 years since the cyberpunk classic “Syndicate” was originally released on home computers in 1993. The crux of both the original and this remake are the syndicate’s agents; powerful individuals with the ability to manipulate and control their opponents. ...

    Overlooked Gem 0

I'm sorry to say the Syndicate was largely overlooked by the gaming press and more importantly the buying public. IN my opinion this is one of the best shooters of the generation. The aesthetic fits perfectly with the narrative, the encounters are tough but never unfair, and the guns feel great....

Incorporate My Syndicate and I'll Conglomorate Your Zaibatsu 0

I turned on the Quick Look of Syndicate expecting a thoroughly middling “post-modern” FPS with a black-and-gold aesthetic ripped straight from the re-launched Deus Ex; watching it only for a personal bemusement with EA’s marketing team’s strange proclivity to use the phrase “corporate espionage” every now and then. So, I returned to my daily tasks, letting Jeff’s dulcet tones flow in-and-out of my ears, as they are want to do. The usual hail of bullets, bass fades, and whirr of digital screens p...

    Cyber fun 0

Syndicate is a fun cyberpunky game. Enjoyed the abilities and some of the more futuristic weapons. Coop seems cool as well but no one plays anymore on PS3 anyways. Only problem I had was the aiming always seemed off. No matter how I tweaked it it was either too fast or too slow. Not to mention there was no separate options for iron sights so I mostly hipfired. This didn't detract from the fun of the game though....

    Passing Judgment on... Syndicate 0

Syndicate is the 2012 FPS re-imagining of Bullfrog’s isometric squad-based RTS put together by Starbreeze Studios (The Darkness, The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay). While the shift to an FPS has ruffled the feathers of purists, it has also allowed Syndicate’s world to appeal to a wider audience, and in a slick technological age where corporations rule (some might say – conspiracy theorists, mostly), where better to set your FPS than in a slick technological age where corporation...

    Hits the spot 0

I love dystopian sci-fi. I love eye candy and palpable atmosphere. Same goes for tight responsive controls combined with innovative gameplay. This game is short and sweet, like a light snack. What is lacks in game time it more than makes up for in pure fun. The game truly hits its stride with the co-op, which is surprisingly successful, challenging and really forces you to join forces with your companions: constantly watching their backs and breathing a sigh of relieve when somebody saves your as...

    Wonderfully Mediocre 0

Yes, by the title of my review you would think that I hated Syndicate, which isn't true. I actually came to enjoy quite a bit of Starbreeze's latest game, a reimagining of the 1993 game of the same name. However, all of my enjoyment of this game stems solely from the cooperative aspect of the game. The single-player game is a jilted mess of mediocrity. What's more disappointing is that EA and Starbreeze were able to get some bigger voice acting names in that of Brian Cox and Rosario Dawson, yet ...
