I do not care about some guy called Patrick. Jeff reviewed Ocarina of time and scored it a 10/10 - that's what it should be compared too as the benchmark for its day all this guy seemed to be doing is moaning about the wii hardware

Why didn't Jeff review this game?

@AndrewB: But surely this game must have meant a lot to him. Watching the Ocarina of time review again, he looked pretty happy with it. I remember him having to do a lot to convince Gamespot editors that this game really deserved a 10/10 as back in those days it was in .1 increments.
@AndrewB: But the last Zelda game was Twilight Princess and that was like 4+ years ago now? Can't remember precisely though I know it was ported from Gamecube and delayed for Wii but still. Nintendo as a rule of thumb, don't bring out crap. They might bring out their famous mascot a lot but the games usually have a lot of substance.
@ShaggE: Nah its not that, he just is moaning more about the Wii hardware than about the Game. Granted, its a Nintendo game and granted they made a mistake by not making the Wii HD capable but you are dealt the cards you are given and you have to give the opinion based on it as though the developer had no input to the hardware ideas and purely talk about what they managed to do with it.
Why didn't Jeff review this game? Because he was working on something else, maybe? And Patrick is damn good at his job and gave the game a good score. I don't recall him spending the entire review complaining about the Wii either, like you are saying he did. The review seemed fine to me and Patrick totally endorsed the game.

You do know Jeff got yelled and screamed at for giving Twilight Princess an 8.8. Some people still call him 8.8 Jeff. It's pretty funny that people upset with Patrick's 4/5 review are calling for Jeff to review it instead.
Now I finally know what to call Jeff. Besides turdbreathe and asshole..I WILL NEVER FORGIVE HIM!!...never. Soon we will cross swords, Warrior Reviewer!
Brad is leaving???? :(

Well with Brad leaving, I guess it'll be all Jeff all the time pretty soon.
I'm sure one of the factors in why the review was up to Patrick is just because of the holiday rush. One guy can't take all the games and get things done in a timely manner.
Lol I chuckled at the Brad meme. Also, to OP, I thought Patrick gave a fair score. 4/5 is perfectly fine.

@AndrewB: Wait, Brad is leaving? When did this happen?
No. It's a joke around these forums.

Then again, Jeff also reviewed Twilight Princess, so I don't understand your logic.
I think it that also helps the point that he should have reviewed it.

Also: WTF with all the Patrick hate in this thread? I love Patrick! I loved him back in the MTV Multiplayer days. I jumped for joy when I heard he was going to be joining Giant Bomb.
Ditto though I first started following him at G4. I heard him on Feedback and was kind of shocked about how knowledgeable he was because a lot of the podcasts I was listening to at the time had people almost twice his age and half as knowledgeable.

@Tacoboy1986: It's a dumb joke that people still use for some reason.... Brad is not leaving.
The joke is dumb and not funny anymore, but man, imagine when Brad does really leave for some other job in the games industry like 5 or 10 years from now. We'll think it's some sort of elaborate joke for MONTHS.
Jeff in all his jadedness would have given it one star. Patrick is a nicer person. Just look at Patrick opinion on Catharine compared to Jeff's.
I didn't like Patrick's review that much either because I feel he can write much better reviews, but I got no problem with Patrick reviewing Skyward Sword. I really like the guy, and I bet he was the only one interested in playing the game. Jeff had said before how he had very little interest in actually playing the game so I guess that's the reason why he's reviewing Need for Speed and Super Mario 3D Land and didn't review this.

If Patrick gave Zelda a fair shake and then gave his honest thoughts, then I'm happy. Still, I agree with Contro that his actual review, not the score, is not the best; I thought his Resistance 3 review was a fantastic, well written, and informative review. My only worry from all of this is that Patrick's feelings on the game might dissuade the others from taking the time to actually play Zelda because I really would like to hear the rest of the crew's thoughts on the game. At least I know I can count on Vinny playing it...Vinny <3
And come on, we all know how divisive Zelda releases are and most people were aware how this one might end up being the most of them all. Just play the game, listen to the amazing CD included, and forget about reviews :)
HYPE!!!!...

Because he has very little interest in the game and is reviewing other titles. Patrick did a fine job.
Huh, did you even bother to read it properly? (- trick question)
"You’re constantly doing new everything here, and it’s the moments when the designers most daringly break from the past (ironic, given the game’s “birth of a legend” branding) that Skyward Sword makes the game worth playing, even if you’ve grown tired of Zelda at this point."
Readability sucks, duder.
Patrick reviewed the game because he was the one in the office that wanted to play this game. He had been expressing interest in the game for a decent amount of time, and seemed excited. Jeff sounded a bit sour on the game since E3 when the swordplay didn't respond the way it should have been. Jeff has said in the past that reviews kind of go to the people that want to review them, and Patrick wanted to review it. Simple as that.
