Saints Row IV

Overview

Saints Row IV is an upcoming entry in the Saints Row series. It was last scheduled for release in 2013 before publisher THQ went bankrupt and sold the Saints Row property to KOCH Media, whose publishing arm Deep Silver will be handling the release. The game has since been scheduled for release on August 23, 2013.

Plot

The story of Saints Row IV picks up with the Boss having become President of the United States. But despite being seated in the nation's highest office, chaos still follows.

Gameplay

During the game, the player will be able to access a variety of superpowers. Such powers that are confirmed for the game include speed-running, high jumping, freeze blasting, and telekinesis.

New weapons that will appear in the game include an inflate-o-ray, which swells heads until they burst, a dubstep gun that pixelates and kills people and can also cause cars to malfunction, and a mech suit that can fly. The guns also seem to have separate skins that do not change their abilities, but change the way they appear. For example, in the demo an RPG appeared to be a war-torn guitar case.

Saints Row: The Third - Enter the Dominatrix Inspiration

Enter the Dominatrix, a stand-alone expansion that Volition had been actively developing for Saints Row: The Third, was cancelled in order to include aspects of it in Saints Row IV. As a stand-alone expansion, Enter the Dominatrix was to directly follow the events of Saints Row: The Third. The basic plot outline of the expansion was to involve an alien invasion in which the aliens would have considered the Saints the only real threat to their plans, and so the Boss would have been captured and placed inside the Dominatrix; a virtual reality incarnation of Steelport in which he or she would have been able to "hack" the system and give him/herself access to a variety of super-powers not found in The Third.
