In Banjo-Kazooie, Tooty was capture by Gruntilda. Before being captured Tooty had been waiting on Banjo, who was sleeping, to go on an "adventure". Gruntilda captured Tooty to steal her beauty after Gruntilda had learn from dingpot that she was not the most beautiful being at Spiral Mountain. After being captured Banjo and Kazooie embark on a journey to save Tooty from Gruntilda and Klungo.
During Banjo-Kazooie if you die a cut-scene will play that shows Tooty's beauty be transfered to Gruntilda and Gruntilda becomes more beautiful.
Tooty has never been seen since the events of Banjo-Kazooie. Rare has kept the Banjo games aware of this fact, referencing her in both Banjo-Tooie and Nuts & Bolts but neglecting to bring her back due to allegedly being a "rubbish character" according to an online edition of their Scribes, along with the vegetables and Brentilda from the original game.
In Banjo-Tooie, Tooty is referenced in the final level, Cloud Cuckooland. If the player makes their way into the giant trashcan within the level, they can find a milk carton with Tooty's face pictured on the side. In Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, Tooty's only reference was in one of the Showdown Town shop names, Tooty Frooty.
