Dead Island Reveal Trailer

If this was played in forward motion, it would look just like any other zombie game, which it is. I am so sick of zombies now...

Y'know, if someone finally stands up and makes a zombie game with real human heart at its core - not just another investigative, grimly cast, resource collecting kill fest, but something that explores the tragedy of it all as you fight just to survive another day - then I for one will get to my feet and doff my hat to them.
 
If the game can sustain the tone and power of the trailer it may be one of great heralds of genuine growth and maturing within an industry that is otherwise (largely at least) lodged firmly in the 1980's/ early 90's all guns blazing, thrills and spills approach to movie making.
 
Intrigued, and maybe a little excited.

As far as trailers go, this was phenomenal. It's really impressive, has mass appeal(making women cry and men weep), and basically gets lots of people talking about a game that very few knew was (still) in development. 
 
I wonder if the long delay had anything to do with L4D coming out.

This game has been announced sooo long ago. I think I remember seeing screenshots of it from around '05 or even '04. I didn't think it was actually ever coming out, pretty sure they at least put it on hold for while.

I may be done with zombies, but I really enjoyed that.

this is probably the best zombie game trailer I have ever seen, the game can't be as good as this. This is made by the guys that made Call of Juarez and Nail'd soooo... nah probably won't be this good.

Probably the best game trailer I have ever seen... it definitely makes me more interested in the game but I am not one to get too invested in a game simply because of a trailer. But for what it is, its very good.

I wonder if Techland apreciate the tons of hype their game is getting or are just kinda pissed that people will now expect a level of emotional involvement which they just can't deliver. Some gameplay clips with singleplayer storyline elements would be great. 

Anyway, at least on paper, a melee-based FPS with RPG elements, free-roaming, on-the-fly 4 player co-op and zombies in a tropical setting sounds a-ok.

I haven't cried since I was 6. This trailer brought a tear to my eye... fucking unbelievably powerful. Please make the game be as good as this damn trailer.

Oh wow. I think this ties, or even tops, the first Crysis 2 trailer (New York, New York) for pure emotional impact. And, according to their FB page, it's a zombie open world game with RPG elements, which makes it even better.

Not sure how the game will turn out to be, but I will echo everyone's sentiments here, the trailer is brilliant. 
One of my teachers showed this to us during class, it was pretty amazing

Masterful, creepily well crafted, memorable, disturbing, and reinforcing of why I stay away from this genre of gaming (though I follow movies of such).  I'm not knocking it, if this was my genre, this trailer would have me sold.  As is, I'll applaud it and go cringe in a corner . . . I should have watched it in the daylight at least, not before sleep.   The rewind with cuts forward, the family, the terror . . it was a movie in itself.

No idea if the game will be any good, but hot damn, that's one of the better trailers I've seen in a while. Was not expecting it to carry the emotional weight it did.

Nolan North as the dad, i want that to happen.

Very good trailer and I'm eager to see more. I sincerely hope this doesn't get buried in the traditional "ew zombies games are so 2010/2009/2008...." etc attitude from folks like Jeff. If it continues to be this interesting, I will be very excited to see more.

I watched it twice!

Very well cut trailer, amazing that it was able to go viral so quickly. Maybe the CG isn't perfect, but the human characters are far from creepy, at least for the time you spend with them in this piece.  Certainly people will be talking about this game now, and that says something since it's probably just another Also-4-Dead.

The only thing cool about it is that it is played backwards with nice music.

Also, more zombies? Really? Meh.

Great Trailer, I wasn't keen with the reverse footage until about halfway when I started to get a feel for the scenario. The music blended with the slow-motion really made you feel for the fake people in the trailer. Hopefully this kind of emotion is brought to life in the real game, then we would have a real winner on our hands.
