E3 2013: Get Toasty With Six Minutes Of inFamous: Second Son Gameplay

Hm... I was more excited for the game before I saw the gameplay. I do love me some Infamous, though.

Wow this looks hella inFamous 2 in some of the animations. It even has ice rock dudes using ice rocks to jump.

I was expecting more things around the powers to change, but this is ok I guess. inFamous 2 was really fun.

This totally had me at collapsible environments.

I really wish this was going to be available at launch. It looks great.

It's really surreal seeing one of my recent favorites portraying my hometown.

Yup, that's totally the Pacific Science Center at the base of the Space Needle, including that fountain area. Hopefully the outdated arcade near it is also modeled, as well as the rest of Downtown and Old Downtown. They also better be throwing fish at the Pike Place Market, or I call BULLLLLLLSHIIIIIT.

As a seattlite while I expect this to be heavily modified for gameplay, the Pacific Science Center(the fighting near the space needle) actually has the ground design, dinosaur sculptures, white arches and placement of it all down pat right there. Which makes me Reeeeeaaaaallllllyyyy excited.

Oh man, they have the Pacific Science Center. It's not actually that small and definitely not that close to the water, but it looks enough like the real thing that seeing it in the game makes this Seattleite very happy.

This game looks so good and I can't wait to play it, this game alone is good enough reason to own a PS4.

I only have trouble with the young hipster protagonist. I want everyone old and cranky like me.

Compared to Cole this design seems to at least have some "personality" (some, not much though). Seriously, Cole was a decent enough character but his design was about as generic "badass, alpha-bro" as you can come. At least this guy doesn't look like another wannabe marine like so many other action game heroes.

Huh... Looks better than I expected.

inFamous was the best open world series to come from this generation and this looks great on new hardware.

Looks like everything Infamous, with a big dash of Red Faction: Guerrilla.

I don't care for the music, but everything else is just... Wow.

I'm absolutely loving all this environmental destruction/interaction in open world games, The Division and now this, hot damn. I'm super excited if this trend continues and next gen really pushes environmental destruction/interaction and just all the small details (bullets going through the window/car realistically in The Division, the car doors closing etc) to infinitely higher levels.

I think the animations could use a bit of improvement but they can work on that. Game looks great.

Yes please.. Missed the first one, but the (partially) destructible environments remind me of RFG. Ohh... RFG. I miss you.

eh, most impressive thing about that were the smoke and magic effects. other than that a big bowl of meh. *shrugs*

To me, that was the most boring trailer I've watched for E3 so far. Not sure I see the hype. Maybe it's because I'm playing Guerilla with all its destructible environments and am only lukewarm on it.

Looks amazing except for those pants.

OK, I don't get it. Seriously, am I the only one here looking and this and seeing same old Cole with firepower skin??

None of the attacks looked to be anything other than fire version of Cole's lightning attacks. Like, NONE. Seriously! I'm really disappointed, I thought this was a new take on the superhero theme with new abilities but they're verbatim the very same skillset of the original Infamous. Isn't anyone bothered at all by this?

I bought the PS3 for the first Infamous so I guess I'll buy the PS4 for this. Also those of you that have played the previous games know that the gameplay will be flawless.

The infamous games were a superblast to play. Though Im kinda tired of cops and military, the enemies from the first games were actually scary. The reapers, and the trashmen were pretty wild. That said, I know this will be fun, even if its pretty much the same mechanics and dumb playstation1 AI- still shooting at you through walls

This made me want to replay inFamous 2. I no longer own a copy so I might get the free download from PS+ if that's still available.

I didn't think that I wanted more inFamous... but I was proven wrong.

On a side note it seems like there are more native protagonists in games these days. Just this guy and Connor from AC3 I guess but two in two years seems steeper than I remember in the past.

Then don't play it and miss out on what could be a great game because of a dumb reason. This looks great.

Many people have said this before, but you have to remember. Last time we went from Standard Definition to High Definition. This time is HD to slightly better HD

Shit. Fire powers? That's a big bummer for me. I loved the electricity powers in the first two games.

Yup, this is pretty much still the Infamous I know and love. I like that they're getting away from Cole and his lightning powers, even though this kid and his fire powers kind of almost work exactly the same. His warp moves really remind me of Nightcrawler, which I am more than okay with.

If there is one single instance of getting killed by an off-screen rocket, I'm going to rage-punch Sucker Punch right in the. . . punch. Punch.

Not totally sure, but it seems like his brother is like local cop and dude is killing totalitarian evil government homeland security people, some of whom are conduits. Plus, this gameplay looks completely open-world freeformy, so not really a representative mission. Good thing to watch out for. InFamous played that line with the dual morality stuff, but maybe this game is just going for a pure evil set of bad guys. We'll see!

Great graphics, gameplay. Another reason for me to get a PS4

From what Brad said from the preview event, it sounds like dude is a Rogue-like conduit. That is, he can absorb and use other people's powers, not that he is a difficult, ever-changing permadeath genre. So fire is just what they are showing, but he is actually a smorgasbord person.

Not saying that invalidates your concern about gameplay, but it is a bit of a twist.

I don't really like the character? I don't get a good vibe. Is it just me?

He seems like the bad guy. I mean, I guess the game is called infamous. But his kinda bemused reaction to murdering dozens of people is offsetting. I didn't get a lot of cognitive dissonance from Uncharted because Nate's enemies were pretty unflinching on the evil side. But this game makes it look like killing some cops is just part of being a punk rock teenager. Maybe I'm getting too old...

Looks like boring awkward open world platforming, yet again. I'm really not interested when others are doing a much better job. Even the animations still look stilted and stutter when you switch between idle and running. Come on, graphics are solved, fix the animation!

This would be more meaningful if we knew what it was running on. I'll assume PC.

Not been a huge fan of the inFamous franchise so far but dude.... this looks pretty rad.

This guy apparently has Rouge (x-men) powers, so we'll be seeing a lot more than Smokey here. I like it! Played the first Infamous to death, so I think I'll enjoy this.
