If you put it up vertically, the opening slides down gradually instead of the more abrupt opening as it sits horizontally.

Really gross design, the first slim isn't great either. They got it right with the PS2 slim though.

It's not the best looking, but if you waited this long to get a PS3, it shouldn't matter.

The top-loading is surprisingly inelegant for Sony, especially compared to previous slot-loading models of PS3. However, I don't think it's the worst thing ever. If they were going to do the top-loading drive, I wish they'd just made the entire top smooth.

I loved the little rotating PS logo on their consoles. It's completely unnecessary, but I still appreciate the intricate attention to detail; even if over half of their owners never even realized you could do it.

I do agree that this version does look a little cheap. Regular PS3's have that sharp, glossy plastic that make it look "premium", while the flat plastic on this version just makes it look like a child's toy. Still, top loading is pretty nice. I always have that same fear of the electronic disc loader not working (which is a common thing that breaks).

I was hoping they would demo that.

Being able to take discs out without the power on is nice but I never have liked the idea of an exposed laser lens. Also it looks kinda ugly IMO.

I don't know what jeff means about it being harder to fit in an entertainment center. its just as easy to put a disc in the top of it as the side, as this is shorter and the top doesn't pop out.

I Like it! But I just got a Slim earlier this year, so I'm good.

Looks fine, but Sony has never really made a good looking console. The Slim is the best they've done, in my opinion.

My slim's disc drive doesn't read dual layer discs anymore and is starting to have trouble with single layer discs. Since the warranty's up, I'm thinking of getting one of these. But I'll wait until the next E3 before dropping 200 on a new PS3 especially when PS+ has given me a crapload of digital games to play.

Why is it still not FLAT!? This design is so unappealing.

I do, however, like the manual loader. It gives the same satisfying click as buttons. Sony loses points for the indentation and the ridges on the top.

They got rid of the glossy black with the first ps3 slim. Which was fine by me cause it was a dust an finger print magnet.

Might grab one during Black Friday if it's cheap enough. Looking for a slim/super slim this year because my launch fat ps3 needs to be replaced ASAP. As for how it looks, i think it looks fine. I am not a fan of any of the PS3 designs, they are just acceptable.

The top loading is nice for getting games out without turning it on, but I wont be completely sold on it until they add a bolt-action locking mechanism. I want to be able to pop the old game out and reload it in one fluid motion.

still they cheap out without a free hdmi cable(cost like $3) and no N class wireless

pretty happy I got my PS3 when I did now. I like the previous version better. Not a fan at all of top loading drives.
