God of War 2 was only really this frustrating in the boss fight with Zeus which is understandable you are fighting fucking Zeus!

I'm still waiting for Ryan to man up and finish Ninja Gaiden 2 on the 360. Boo hoo, you lost a couple of hours when your save got corrupted (not a common bug), how many hours did you lose trying to complete this arbitrary challenge?

Relics are definitely missable.  The ones you get from the demon dog things are usually off on some path that you just might not notice.   The ones you get from talking to that dude more than once at certain times is just unknown unless you read about it or just happen to talk to him more than once and get one.....I had no idea he gave relics until I was at the end of the game. "

fair enaugh I just happened to looked around quite a bit in the game. and I did talked to that dude many many times everytime lol even the 2nd play though I talked to him till he shuts up lol. I guss I just like the game. well I think Ryan just didnt quite fully learn the game itself, dont blam him as he is to review the game in a short time and its always hard to get force though a game that u might not fully enjoy. might play though this game again before GOW3 comes out :D and finishing off STALKER COP "

No wonder they wanted to get this out before God of War 3, must have rushed it out so fast that they weren't able to do proper play testing. Bullshit challenges should not be a required part of a playthrough.

I know it's been said, but damn it's brutal to watch. With the aid of some relics, a slight upgrade to the holy side, or the use of the Redemption gauge, this challenge could've been pretty easily done. Only at about 10 minutes in atm.

There's no way around it, it was a stupid implementation into the story. When these first started coming up, I had no idea what the hell was going on. With the rest of the story being so serious, this just felt really weird and out of place, albeit the best way that they could deal with the ten rings. That said, this alone doesn't make the game terrible. This isn't the best representation of the rest of the game, from what I've seen so far. It's ridiculously enjoyable, and provided that you level yourself right (i.e. not sticking strictly to one path), it shouldn't prove to be overly difficult, outside of some boss fights on higher difficulties.

haha what garbage! I dont care how many people say this is an easy challenge or people did it in one try but its SHIT development when you say "for our main game you have to do a totally arbitrary challenge where you have to keep a single combo going." Games don't work this way anymore for a reason, and as reviews have shown this challenge is but ONE of many mistakes.

Fuck, that was brutal.

Seems to me that what would have helped you is simply taking your time. It sounds weird because if you stop attacking you fail, but it looks like it should be possible to fire a cross and roll backwards around the edge all day. This has an added benefit of herding all the enemies into your line of fire.

So I heard that Ryan is a sad false shell of a man, can anybody confirm this?

Watching this video is killin me.. there are many relics that help with this, and if your REALLY stuck you can just cheese the game by jumping all the time and spamming the crosses. This part of the game is NOT as hard as Ryan made it out to be.

I think I'll wait another month for GoW3

funny how a game is hard like demon souls and u do get cheap death in that game alot dont tell me u dont. anyway games like that get praised and games thats challanging but coz its a gow clone its totaly donkey ass :P

lol at all the people trying to justify the game and putting the blame on Ryan. It's a design flaw and the game's fault for forcing people to go out of their way to get through some challenges (like going the holy path or obtaining some relic), which the challenges should have been an extra side thing anyways.

That's ridiculous to put something so difficult and you can't even skip it. I mean dang I haven't even played the game and I was just angry at what he had to do.

Gotta equip the item that gives you more time to continue combos and play it on easy.

I should also add that all these "morality" systems in games has sort of trained us to go all or nothing on one path or another.  I can see how specializing in either the Holy or Unholy skill path would make this games so much harder than it already is.  Best thing to do is to cherry pick the good stuff from each path, but the game does nothing to advise you on this. 
 
And I'll agree with all the rest of you that this challenge gauntlet in Fraud is terrible.  The challenge where you had to stay airborne for 8 seconds was worse than this IMO.

This looked awful.  I haven't been into this game since I heard they turned a scared ass poet on a tour into god of war; but seriously, what a frustrating piece of game design.  This should be a bonus mode, or an optional goal or something, but this seems like a bad way to extend the length of a game or increase difficulty when they couldn't find a better way.
 
And to be honest, I'm sure Ryan's doing this because it's his job.  Who the hell wants to come home from a full day at work work or school and relax with something like this?

Nice, that was the big roadblock in my progress as well, though I was on the holy side and I flipped it to Classic (which I don't think you did based on the prompts and the size of the combo) so I had a bit of an advantage. Still, that part is a real momentum killer in the game, really poor decision on the developer's part.

I would ask why everytime you go to hell in a game its torture to play, but thats the whole point of hell. That said i hate these parts in games, the frickin brick wall that keeps you from beating the game and getting that good feeling that it is over and you will never have to do it again.

I'm way late to the discussion but the answer to thsi challenge was defintiely the fully upgraded, basic Holy Cross attack.  I don't know how else I could of done this on the second attempt without spamming that bad boy. 
 
Holy crosses are also a good way to get those combo achievements.

I had been wondering where the review was, but I'm going to avoid this video for now due to the fact that I have yet to finish the game myself, not entirely due to difficulty but due also in part to the fact that I have other games I need to finish first.

Oh god, PAINFUL! I feel your pain Ryan. Just sitting here and watching was filling me with rage.
