hmm... Awesome cutscenes but I reserve judgement... I've never liked the gameplay from previous SoSE games

Well, the voice acting is still horrible, but the first game was a pretty good real time version of the 4X formula.

You and me both, dude. But I would be willing to settle for just another amazing multiplayer game. Loved Sins and its expansions, likely will devour this with as much enthusiasm.

But yeah, it's not like Solar Empire had a particularly deep story, there wasn't even a campaign. The Diplomacy expansion did add in a feature where you could forge temporary peace treaties and stuff though, so I'm guessing that's what they meant by peace here.

Guess I have to reinstall Sins...

Hey Ironclad, usually the big, fancy, pre-rendered trailer is made for the first game, then the cheaper intros are made for the expansions, not the other way around!

It's pretty cool how the Sins series has built an implicit narrative by adding game mechanics rather than an explicit campaign story.

Heard this game was broken by a lot of people. So instead of fixing their previous content, they make more?

this one is totally stand-alone actually. It's a new expansion but it includes all the previous expansions and the base game. And it's a Steamworks game now that Stardock sold Impulse/

That is...the most gorgeous CG space combat in any form of media, in quite some time. Man, that was exciting.

Here's hoping the Vasari's nemesis finally comes around. Maybe we'll get a campaign for once.

Too bad it's combat was literally the most boring thing to watch, people promised it was gonna be a Homeworld 3, but a HW3 it ain't.

2. Realize that you're making a 4X game that contains almost no story whatsoever once you actually start playing

I'm being snarky, and in all fairness, I don't know how you possibly make an honest trailer for an intricate strategy game without making the trailer dreadfully boring.

I really like the rectangular, industrial design of the Coalition ships.

Sadly I could never get into these sort of games so I'll never play it.

Closest I came to enjoying a game of this type was Homeworld 1/2. Remember to scrap your entire fleet before moving onto the next level to avoid crazy combat scaling!

i would love to pre-order this, sadly they are only giving a 10 dollar credit to those who own trinity as opposed to those who own the base game, really bullshit

Love this game so much. Can't wait for another one to add new things for me to conquer with.

It's incredibly unrealistic of you to expect that. Ignoring expansions, original Sins of a Solar Empire came out in 2008. Do you really think it's unfair of them to release a standalone sequel-thing a full 3 years later?

Expecting continuing patches 3 years later is absurd. The only games that can afford to do that are games that have moved millions and millions of copies, and still have hundreds of thousands of daily players. Sure, Starcraft, League of Legends, Team Fortress 2, and most MMOs get patches years after they get released, but those are the exceptions to the rule.

Some people still have issues with Sins of a Solar Empire running properly. That's unfortunate, but some games just inevitably never fully leave that state, especially if they're very complex games that occupy something of a niche in the wide world of gaming.

Well, they have me intrigued. Here's hoping for a quick look.

These games are great. One of the types of games I always wished I was better at. But I'm so happy they keep coming out with more.

Same here. If you can get a group of people to play together, It's amazing.

Sins was a good game, but I really want Homeworld 3 to get made some day.

So, is this a video game? The trailer doesn't hint at anything to that effect. It looks like a promo for a completely CGI tv series, one that I'd possibly watch.

I assume based on the logos they present at the start of the trailer, and the fact that this is on Giantbomb, that it's a video game, but otherwise I couldn't tell.

Yeah yeah, Sins can have its 4 Xs, as long as I get my 3rd Homeworld.

Might have to look into this.

Yeah I bought the original on the promise of a friend that I'd love the game since I was a huge Homeworld fan (I still consider it like my 2nd or 3rd favorite game of all time). He was very wrong. The first telling moment was when I realized it didn't have a story based campaign, and it just went downhill from there.

A must buy for me, enjoyed SINS and the mini expansions. Will enjoy this.

all I can think of while watching half of it was how much money they wasted on that thing.

I enjoyed Sins very much, and most of its mini-expansions, though some weighted the game in weird ways till later mini-expansions re-balanced things a bit.

If people are thinking of a game that was broken at launch, I suspect they're thinking of Sword of the Stars and its (STILL WAY BROKEN... Well, actually unfinished, but in retail) sequel.

Sins itself was always pretty rock solid.
