The Story of Aliens Vs. Predator

So I guess this will be a year of the "reboot".  This looks like a better version of the one from forever ago.  I hope it is good.

Do you only play as the humans? or does it get all avatar like and we jump inside the aliens

I see the potential, I just hope they don't screw it up.

The game seems to have a lot of potential but I don't understand why Sega can't just slap a "3" on this instead of doing the stupid re-boot crap.

I would be excited for this, but known Rebellion developed it (Rouge Warrior, Shellshock 2 ect) I know I would only be set up for disappointment.

It has potential. And that's all that can be said with any certainty.

Nothing is ever wrong with a reboot.

You know Rogue Warrior isn't even Rebellions fault? Zombie Studios developed the game, Zombie Studios developed it for 2 years and Bethesda didn't like it and scraped it then they gave 9 months to Rebellion to develop it again....9 months..clearly they rushed the game to make the 9 month deadline. "

Off the back of Rogue Warrior and Shellshock 2: Blood Trails... what can possibly go wrong?

Okay, so that reassures me a bit. Still going to wait for some sort of preview to report on the framerate and other issues Rebellion's been having lately before I shell out.

As I said in a previous AvP thread, I really enjoyed the first and I'm keeping a keen eye on this one.

I will be the helpless human who get killed by both.

I'm really looking forward to this, it's been long in the wait for me.

I loved the old pc games, Multiplayer was so much fun. I really hope this turns out to be good....

As long as I get to throw spears through people's heads and then collect their skulls as a Predator, I'm fine.

Seems to capture the mood the original PC games were going for. This's looking like it could be good for both the nostalgic and the new hopefuls.

So what's the story behind the two creatures coming together into the same world again?  I saw Alien, Aliens, and Predator... so how do both creatures come together?  Either way, mindlessly stalking dudes and ripping them up sounds fun.

You had me at Henriksen.

It's pretty much their flagship game(series) isn't it? I'm positive they'll be heavily motivated to turn this into something good, just like the first game.
 
I do hope it comes out when it's done, and not when the marketing guys rush it because they want to see their money.
 
Games like this don't come out every year and thus should deserve some extra polish.

Now that the original Bishop is involved I'm getting a little bit excited about this game. Just a little bit though.

It could be good... but doesn't look all that interesting as well..

Is it the original Bishop, or did they rebuild him or something? Spoilers if you haven't seen Aliens, but Bishop isn't exactly 100 percent functional by the end of that movie. But I do vaguely remember him being in the third one...

The AVP movie (the first one) was Excellent AND it had Henricksen in it.  However, AVP 2 movie was a complete shit hole & I sometimes think that whoever made AVP 2 was on a misson to destroy the AVP franchise!  The next crossover movie they need to make is Jason vs Freddy vs Ash.
 
Personally, I'd rather Sega went forward with Obsidian's Alien RPG game rather than another Aliens twitch shooter based on reflexes.  RPG games can be much more scary.  Late at night while playing Dragon Age: Online, some of those demonic possession scenes or battles scared the living shit out of me.  I doubt if DA was done as a run & gun it would have the same effect.   Shooters & RPGs seem to stimulate different parts of my brain & I like the kind of game that allow my imagination to interact with it, which is what RPGs do.  Shooters only make you think about how to move quickly & blow away something with the story simply providing filler to the action.  Shooters seem disposable...anyhoo...

Ok first off, the dude from the narration is Lance Henriksen who played the android in the second Alien movie.  We also find out in the third movie that all models of that android were made to look like Weyland of Weyland Yutani, the corporation that sent the ship to be infected in the first Alien movie, and the colony from the second Alien movie.  The trailer for this game indicates this takes place while he is still alive, or an android version of him is running the place.
 
Secondly the Alien Vs. Predator movies are NOT CANON of the Alien Vs. Predator stories.  They started as Dark Horse comics in the late 80's and those are the ONLY thing to be taken as fact because they are so goddamn well written.  In those it was explained that Predators hunt Aliens for sport and right of passage for younger Predators.  They have seeding ships with Alien eggs to spread them around before they land for the hunt.
