Reminds me of the time Ubisoft put a quote from GameSpy about Splinter Cell Essentials giving the game praise on the cover when the quote was taken from an E3 impression and not from their glowing 2/5 star review of the game.

Yeah, I think that's what happened as well. Whoever cut this trailer either made a mistake, or did not know that Gamespot and GiantBomb are not the same, despite both being owned by CBSI.

Whatever. I just want to see more GiantBomb quotes about videos games. I don't give a rats ass about 90% of the people they showed and I'm always looking for GiantBomb. It's near the end when they start flashing all the different quotes amid the city skyline. It's pretty much the centre of the screen, just left of that really tall building.

the world and gameplay looks cool enough but I'm kind of bummed that they took the safe route with the story and character. And then just kind of cheaply paste over it with BS like, "oh yeah, well he just totally shoots them in the leg and stuff. No foul."

I always thought E3 awards were the dumbest thing ever. Awards based on previews. Its like declaring a champion of pre season football.

Giving out awards for games that are not even out yet. Yup,makes sense.

To be fair, these quotes tend to be attributed to the site/publication, not the specific individual working there who said it. The quote still is a bit disingenuous of course, as Jeff never formally called it his Game of the Show and was merely postulating it could be, but I guess that's the world of half quotes and half truths in advertisements.

Even though the fake-award thing is really dumb ... I'm still excited for this game.

This is getting out of hand when publishers can just claim "OVER A MILLION E3 AWARDS" for every AAA title coming out these days. Naturally there's an absurd amount of "Best of Show" awards you can claim to have won when you factor in every single webpage that reviews games ever.

Don't know why everyone's upset about this, they just took a bunch of quotes from various sites and threw em into one video. I bet Ubisoft tracks what Jeff or the rest of the GB crew tweets about their games.

This game does look excellent but that quote or award that stated that watch dogs is a game with it's own original theme is stretching the the truth a bit.
Again I think it does look excellent but it's still just another third-person action-shooter with the slight addition of a hacking skill. Which isn't all that different from the likes of Splinter cell or Mass Effect in terms of gameplay, so calling it original in it's theme is not an accolade I support.
That sort of award should only go to something that either flips the idea of a certain genre or the entire videogames industry on it's head or is a completely new evolutionary direction in it's gameplay.

This kind of desperate marketing sours me on the game. I've already been generally unimpressed by it. This looks like Ubi knows the game won't be able to stand by itself.

Doesn't this go to show that if you say it online, that means it is official. Jeff said "probably my game of show" and that's it. "....Game of Show"says GIANT BOMB!

Well other than the weirdness I can't believe that no one's commenting on the fact that the Oldboy guy's in this.
