I have some points lying around on my XBL account and i am wondering which XBLA games are worth the purchase i am planning on getting bionic commando and i am not a fan of puzzle quest. Any suggestions?
Ikaruga, Rez are a must buy. Catan is a must buy personally, there are still enough people playing the game. Braid coming out next week looks top quality and Geometry Wars 2 is fantastic.
Geometry Wars 2 is a awesome game that you should really look into. Another personal favorite for me is N+ , you should also check that one out. And on Wednesday Braid is coming out, and that game is looking really rad.

The XBLA games i have had the most playtime and enjoyment out of are Geometry Wars 1& 2, Doom, Sonic the Hedgehog 1& 2, Bomberman and Worms. Have also played loads of Golf: Tee It Up recently but that one is hard to recommend if you are not into golf games, although granted it is no Tiger Woods!!!!
My facvourite two XBLA games have got to be Ikaruga and Geometry Wars: Evolved 2. Ikaruga becuase it is a superb game and XBL multiplayer gave it everything it needed. Geometry Wars: Evolved 2 because that game is just intense and very very addictive

You like Kane and Lynch, yet you go on the site owned by the man who absolutely destroyed that game? 0_o
Anyway arecade games... Geometry Wars 2, Ikaruga and Braid are the ones I highly recommend and Lumines Live and Uno are also pretty fun. There is plenty of other great stuff on there though.
Edit: I also just played the demo of Pacman: CE. Thats freaking cool. Anyone who hasn't tried it, give it a go!

Amen, dude. Pirates is one of the best games to come out on the original Xbox. I'm currently attempting to get the highest score on Xbox Live in the game, which is... gonna take a very long time. I used to be #5 overall, and I got that rank when I retired earlier than I wanted to because it was only a rental. This time, I'm aiming higher, and looking for a score that's gonna stay up there for good. Unfortunately, the game keeps freezing on me occasionally when I talk to a mysterious stranger in a tavern now, but at this point I don't really need to talk to them anyway so I guess I should just avoid them.
As for XBLA, I must say, I'm not too impressed with the games it has. I recently downloaded a ton of demos of the highest scoring XBLA games, and so many of them really disappointed me. I think Braid and Geometry Wars 2 are both great, but a bit overpriced.
Lumines Live needs more love. It can get a bit pricey if you buy everything, but it's the best puzzle game on XBLA and one of my favorite puzzle games ever. If you haven't played this on PSP, at least check out the demo.
Aside from that there's Pac Man CE, Geometry Wars 2, Braid, Carcassone, Castle Crashers and Catan - all great originals. Older games worth playing/owning on the service include Rez HD, Ikaruga, Castlevania: SOTN, Super Puzzle Fighter II HD and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. Puzzle Quest and Bionic Commando Rearmed are also both excellent.
