Overview
Year Walk is a moody and atmospheric first-person adventure/puzzle game for iOS. Set in 19th century Sweden, the game takes place on New Year's Eve and puts the player on a quest to discover what his future holds.
Originally exclusive to iOS, Year Walk released for PC on March 6, 2014. In July 2015, an enhanced Wii U port, developed by Dakko Dakko was announced for a summer release.
Wii U port
Simogo revealed on July 14, 2015 that they had partnered with Dakko Dakko to create a unique version of the game for Wii U that would take advantage of the system's unique features to enhance the game experience.
The usual features such as a map and the encyclopedia being on the GamePad screen are of course present, but Dakko Dakko added even more features to the game. Players are able to take notes directly on the touch screen with the stylus.
Motion controls are also introduced into this version of the game. Players move the character with the left stick but in order to look around and interact with the environment, players point and lightly tilt the GamePad around. Notably, this can be done without having to point at the actual TV and can be done while resting it in one's lap. Interactions with puzzles are also now done via motion, such as rotating the GamePad to rotate an object in the game in order to make players feel as if they are actually holding and examining the object themselves.
Other secrets and little things have also been added to the game but those have not been specified by Simogo in their announcement.
Additionally, the Wii U version is the only version of the game to support English, French and Spanish, Italian and German language options.
