Active Reload is a gameplay concept in which the player can actively decrease the load time of a weapon by timing a button press.
Archery is the practice of propelling arrows with use of a bow. Throughout history, archery skills have been used in both hunting and warfare. Today, it is also a sport and recreational activity.
A game mechanic popularized by Epic's Gears of War. The player while in cover shoots "blindly" at the enemy. Used in conjunction with suppressive fire to stop the opposing team in their tracks.
A Boomer is a larger, more powerful variety of the standard Locust Drone. The standard Boomer uses a Boomshot, but other varieties include the Grinder, Mauler, Butcher, and Flame.
These walking tanks are possibly the deadliest enemy in the Gears of War universe. They have mounted missile launchers on their backs, four Troika turrets on their wrists and are piloted by the Locust.

A Human Shield is a form of cover in which a player uses a body to absorb damage like that of a shield. It's usually found in first and third-person shooters.
A new monk-like Locust that revives downed Locusts and summons Rockworms with a low chant.
Lethal bat-like Locust race used to protect parts of cities late at night. Inability to determine friend or foe or pure bloodlust leaves everyone dead who wanders into their dark.
The Lambent are Immulsion-infected Locusts that glow and grow tentacles. They begin to attack the regular Locusts and explode after being killed. The Lambent are instinct-driven and only care about one thing: killing all other life forms.
The Locust Horde are the main enemies in Gears of War with multiple types to crush the COG military. It is unknown whether the Locust are truly indigenous to Sera, but it is known that they will die for control of Sera.
Nemacyst are flying, organic bombs spew forth from a Seeder's tail. They take aim for the closest COG or helicopter. Seem to have red eyes that is used to lock on to targets like COG's and Helicopters.
Some game modes don't allow the player to respawn once killed, forcing them to think strategically and to try to stay alive.
