Thursday Night Throwdown 07/15: Team Fortress 2

They should somehow kick people who have been on for more than an hour. There are people in the server who according the server info have been in for nearly 2 and a half hours.

The tickrate for the server is horrible, my shots take like a second to register.
 
And player count needs to be raised to 32 or 64.

Well. After having no luck all day in getting into the server, not much hope for later.

Since these only go on for 2 hours, I'm guessing/hoping there's a system in place to automatically kick people after they've been playing for 30 minutes (and maybe even ban them until it's over so they can't sneak back in), that way a lot of people will be able to take part.

People idling and not actually playing will be banned (according to Will from his twitter).

My ping will probably be floating around the 200 mark, but I'll still try to hop on if possible.

The Kotakuites and I are looking to join in on this throwdown as we extend the olive branch of friendship.

I wonder how many people are in the queue right now... 
There are WAY too many people that are on the server for hours now seemingly AFK... I understand they want in but this ain't fair.

I really wish I get in but thanks to this TNT I've started playing TF2 again which is really really fun like I remembered it.

I'm hoping that I get in. But lets be honest, I'm not.

I'm gunna have to decline because i know i ain't gunna get in, and the way the server has been all these hours...yeah, not cool.

Glad they're trying out justintv for the streams now. i've always had a better experience with them over ustream.

I was playing earlier and i was getting some pretty bad ping, I know the server is on the west coast and im on the east but i dont think i should be getting 100+ ping. Actually almost everyone in the server had 100+ pings. Unless everyone were Europeans.

One more hour....have to fight the urge to go to sleep D:

Christ, once this starts there will be people who have been camping spots for 4-5 hours.
 
If you've been playing TF2 for 5 hours straight, you don't need another two hours on the air.

As much as I love TF2 and the Whiskey Engineer team / Tested crew I gotta get to sleep now. I'll watch the rerun tomorrow. I already had some fun playing on the server today.

Probably a good call, all things considered. I think Justin has a higher quality for streaming, too.

Okay, so I have no idea how servers work and thus haven't a clue of how to join, but here's the question: will people of this community share spots with others instead of attempting to hog all the time? I'm being led to believe this could happen, and I'm really hoping it doesn't. I have faith in you, PC gamers of Giant Bomb.

And damn it, my auto-retry got me connected... only for a "server is full" message to appear about half a second later. Which kinda negates the whole point of automatically retrying to join a server.
