Hiroyuki Takahashi is a video game developer known for his work on Sega's Shining series and Nintendo's Mario Golf, Mario Tennis, and Golden Sun series. He entered the video game industry at Enix where he worked on the Dragon Quest franchise. He was an uncredited marketer for Dragon Quest III, assistant producer of Dragon Quest IV, and executive producer of the North American localization of Dragon Warrior II. In 1990, he left Enix to form the independent studio Climax Entertainment with Chunsoft programmer Kan Naito and Enix freelancers Yoshitaka Tamaki and Yasuhiro Taguchi.
After the release of Shining and the Darkness in 1991, Hiroyuki left Climax and opened Sonic! Software Planning with an investment from Sega to assist Climax on the development of Shining Force. Sonic would be the principal developer of the Shining series until Sega merged it into Nextech in 1998. Following Sonic's merger into Nextech, Hiroyuki joined his brother Shugo Takahashi's studio Camelot Software Planning in the role of president, and this studio would finish development of Shining Force III's three scenarios.
Hiroyuki has remained the president of Camelot and has been credited with producing, designing, or writing most of the games developed by Camelot since he joined the company in 1998.
