The Ice Stage is a trope of many video games with themed stages, especially platforming games, and some racing games.

This type of stage is characterized by a snowy, icy setting, and is often populated with enemies appropriate to cold climates like bears, wolves, or penguins. But no ice stage is truly complete without a slippery, icy surface that causes the player to slide about uncontrollably.

Whether the player is running or driving through an ice stage, these levels are often criticized for being both cliche and frustrating to navigate.
