It looks like GOG is having crazy Star Wars bundle sales right now, in case you want this, Dark Forces 2, KOTOR, alongside every other weird forgotten SW PC game from the 90s (including all the sequels to X-Wing and TIE Fighter that no one speaks about in the same reverential tones as X-Wing and TIE Fighter and that RTS that is basically just Age of Empires, but with Star Wars)

I'm currently at home, taking a semester off school and can very readily identify with the idea that "No, this place (not to mention life in general) was always weird and always had these problems. You just didn't notice it before." That's just part of the passage of time, I guess. I still call my parents' house "home" though, so I guess it speaks to the fact that it's still the place I identify with and want to be.

It probably speaks to the way I play video games that I touched the building stuff in Fallout 4 for roughly 10 minutes before resuming my trek across the wasteland. It would take a significant mechanical benefit for me to want to engage in that stuff in any way. I don't want to make a sweet house so much as I want to run around the wasteland, encounter interesting characters and shoot super mutants in the face. (of course, it turned out that those things weren't so interesting for me either and I ended up putting Fallout 4 down)

There are a handful of 2015 releases I'd like to give a closer look at before finalizing my Game of the Year list (and a handful that I'd like to get to but probably won't yet because The Witcher 3 intimidates me), so I can identify with this blog series. Just not the daily part. No one wants to read a blog where I talk about working through the Bloodborne DLC. "Well, I died like 8 times to this boss, so then I took a break."

The Book of Unwritten Tales seems like a modern adventure game, inasmuch as I don't think you mentioned inscrutable puzzles at any point. That sounds alright to me.

My problem with this game is that I will never have as much fun playing it as I will watching Vinny play it.

I'm okay with videos like these being edited to cut downtime. It just means more of the video is about Vinny making excellent aerospace choices.

I feel like the Draft Kings ads continue to get more and more sarcastic as time goes on...

Manos is hilarious, but still nigh unwatchable at points even with mst3k involved.

DO SOMETHING!!!

That was always the double-edged sword of some of the old Z-grade movies those guys would take a look at. In the case of Manos, the pacing and editing in that movie is so incompetent that it sort of wraps around to being funny again.

It's super weird that it not only got pulled from stores, but removed from the (digital) game shelves of people who bought it. That's some Ministry of Truth stuff right there.

I guess this loosely fits the framework of a "video game".

The Wii version doesn't look amazing, but if it came out in 2011 or 2012 like it was supposed to, I could see it as one of those late-model Wii games that Nintendo fans would've rallied around during the last few sputtering, dry years of that console's lifecycle. "No man, we got Rodea, Skyward Sword and The Last Story coming! Of course the Wii has games!"

The Wii U version, by comparison, looks like a weird hot dumpster fire of a video game. That part where they literally skip an entire section of the level because the developer couldn't implement the power-up is so amazing and bizarre. I bet it will make for some fun comparison videos for those willing to dig deep enough.
