@thatpinguino: I almost want to play FF VIII after listening to this podcast. It sounds like the sort of magical trainwreck I could get behind. However, I only hate myself enough to play games I dislike for 15 hours, not 40+.
Looking forward to the inevitable follow up where you get ZP to play X-2 or the XIII saga.
You're still doing better than me on the blogging train. I've only done 11 blogs throughout the year and a handful of reviews. Ah, to be young again and not only have a bunch of free time but also the drive to write things about stuff.
Fallout 4 though... that's a subject I can talk about. If you didn't read my 2,500 word monster blog about it, your gripes are similar to mine. 2015 was the year that I've started to feel burnt out on open world mechanics, with special consideration for the Ubisoft school of tower climbing and icon barf. Hearing that AC: Syndicate is a much better game than Unity doesn't quite excite me enough to give it a try.
And now you have me thinking about Pokemon: Omega Ruby and how I played like 6 hours of that game before putting it down. I wouldn't mind if Nintendo made a game in that series that cut down on the pedantic "My first RPG"isms and focused on the crazier stuff that shows up in the post-game content. Also more customization. Dressing up my PokeFrench trainer girl in X version was a weird guilty pleasure of mine.
@baka_shinji17: Destiny is a shooter that sometimes pretends to be a MMO and Monster Hunter... defies any sort of direct genre classification. I guess it's dense with systems and has progression, which makes it RPG-ish. I like RPGs. There will probably be fewer of them on the list once I'm done whittling it down to 10.
Man, it always infuriates me whenever RE2 is brought up and they all fumble around in their attempts to remember something--anything--about it, when we have a super in-depth article for it on this very site...
Resident Evil 2? Isn't that the one set in the mansion with the zapping system? And Nemesis is there?
It's always fun listening to Brad get all nostalgic about this era of First Person Shooters, which I was too young to really engage with. There's something about the early polygonal look of Quake and Quake 2 that appeals to me, though I don't think I would actually get a ton out of trying to play those games now.
