I once dropped an external hard drive that I was playing Planescape Torment directly off and lost the whole drive. There were loads of things on that thing but these save games are the one thing I remember the most, I had made such good progress… Have not yet tried to play the game again and this was more than 10 years ago.

I think it’s Transistor for me although I haven’t played Pyre yet. Hades is a great game but some aspects of it didn’t work as well (for me personally).

I wonder what photorealism will mean for violent games like a Call of Duty for example. Will developers have to pull back on the realism to make the whole thing palatable? It is already a problem in some instances for me, when it looks too real to want to engage with it and it’s probably going to get worse before some game comes out that makes a large amount of people uncomfortable.

I hope tha developers use processing power for more, in my opinion, exciting things like physics simulations, crowd density, AI and stuff like that but let’s see, I am guessing that for AAA, what shows better in trailer and screenshot form is more attractive.

It’s not what I expected but I’ll give everything a try, still interested in what GB looks like once everything settles down!

On a side note, I find it bizzare that GB is the one trying new things while the people that recently left GB are pretty much producing very similar content to their previous work at GB. I was expecting it to be the other way around but let’s see how it goes, it’s all so new.

It has to be something from the Homeworld team for me. It’s hard to pick one, from tiny fighters to large carriers and motherships, it’s all amazing.

The ability to jump onto ladders (I mean being able to run towards a ladder, jump and stick to it) in first person games rather than having to press a button at the bottom to start climbing. I don’t know what it is, I just really like doing it!

As a kid I learned a lot of English vocabulary playing Lucasarts adventure games. The voice acted ones would be good and have the text to go with it if needed. They don’t have any need for reflexes or other twitch skills there is no time pressure, they are very well written and they are also very funny which could help. My personal favourite is Full Throttle but there are many others, Grim Fandango being another great one.

I am awful at turn based strategy sort of games like Fire Emblem, Unity of Command, Into the Breach etc. I always think that this will be the time I will commit and learn and play through one but I just can’t think more than 1 move ahead, which seems essential, and I suck and then I invariably quit…

I would also recommend From Hell, it is probably not as bombastic as other comics but it is a great, complex story accompanied by amazing and unique art. I have not read that many comic books so I dont know how common this is but it also comes as one enormous book which is handy.
