Star Realms is cheap, quick, simple, and super satisfying. My wife and I use to play it all the time just to decide who would have to go pick up food, take out the trash, or had baby duty that night. A good addition to if you go with one of the other smaller games mentioned from others.

BattleCON Devestation of the Indines Remastered is incredible at simulating fighting games via cardplay. Dozens of characters so there is a lot to play around with. There is some neat but not perfect Co-op options as well. A little more expensive than Clank, just to keep budget in mind.

Doom Eternal and Animal Crossing. I was very much in the Jeff camp on AC, and I didn't like Doom Eternal for over muddying the very fun, old school-esque combat of DOOM. The kicker was my wife and daughter had flown to visit the grandparents, and the trip got extended due to lockdowns beginning, schools closing, an us starting to prepare for a move... so basically I was alone in a small apartment for 2 months with 2 games I had been super amped for... and realizing neither were for me.

My wife and I switched roles and I became a stay-at-home dad for our toddler while my wife went to work. There's a lot of quiet downtime when little kids sleep where you just need to clean and chill out. I had been listening to audiobooks but was done with all the ones I liked and needed some more stuff to listen to. I had tried other video game podcasts but they all talked way too much about video games... like, what I was looking for was people who talked 'around' video games, like me and my friends did when we would hang out. I stumbled onto the Giant Bombcast, and the episode opened with them doing play-by-play of a traffic chase they were watching on Brad's laptop. It was hilarious and perfect. I signed up for premium immediately without ever watching a video. A month later I finally watched a UPF episode and it was the exact vibe I had pictured in my head. I still find it unreal how much they nailed exactly what I was looking for.

I forget the episode but it was one of Dan's first I believe.

I had a few friend's briefly show me Demon's Souls and rave about it, but I didn't really get the appeal and never paid much attention to it. When Dark Souls came to Steam, I bought it on some sale (like so many things...) and let it sit. In the last month of my Wife's pregnancy I finally loaded it up because we needed something to kill time and was low impact. She would watch and read off lore as I was figuring out the systems and since we were playing it very late after it came out there were detailed FAQs so she would drop hints about some of the more cryptic secrets being careful to limit spoilers. We beat the game and my daughter was born shortly after. It was really a perfect moment in my life, such a fantastic way to experience that game.

I understand this is likely against some rules (either here or with bethesda) but whatever.

I am in the camp who was super disappointed by DOOM Eternal. I have it and Wolfenstein Youngblood tied to a bethesda.net account. This account is pretty useless to me and with everyone being inside and looking for games to play I'm happy to share my bethesda.net login with someone to play through these games if they are interested.

I know this seems like I'm just asking for someone to steal my account, but...
1. You actually have to enter a security question to edit information on the account, so essentially I have a layer of security (another password) between sharing the account and someone taking it over.

2. I've wiped any important personal info from the account.

3. Even if there is a workaround to hijack the account, ah well, both games are just not my thing so no biggie.

So if you are legitimately interested in playing through either game, send me a DM and I'll send over the login info. Not sure how save data works, you can wipe mine if it syncs. You can borrow it for atleast a few months. Thanks!

Doom 2016 is probably my 3rd favorite game of all time.

I've only played a little over getting the dash in this one but I've hated every second of it. Hoping it grabs me at some point, but after a few more levels I'm likely just going to shelve it and cut my losses.
