Thoughts about the new Tomb Raider

I never really felt for the Tomb Raider series other then the first one and Anniversary. The gameplay was alright in the games but that was kind of it. The Tomb Raider stories are pretty boring and I personally hate Lara Croft as a character. So enough of the hate - the new Lara Croft looks absolutely amazing and feels more Indiana Jones/Uncharted then James Bond. If this game turns out to be a kind of raw piece of story of Lara getting away from whatever she's running from (cause really, why would an inexperienced little girl go on a top secret mission) this might actually turn out as a fantastic game. Afterall it is an M rated game at this point and those first screenshots looks pretty darn great!

Mass Effect Three, here's why I think we'll see it at the VGA's.

Of course, every clue that BioWare shared with us can be can be read in a lot of different ways. Although, there are three way to obvious things in the clues that seems to reveal way to specific information for this to turn out other then a Mass Effect-game. The first is as we all know it the weapon. We know BioWare they wouldn't be that lazy to put Mass Effect weapons in other games, right? So that is the first obvious clue. The second one however is the one that makes me believe that this is just as the Mass Effect 2 teaser - just an introduction, a little pre-event that we'll see at the very beginning at the game that might not  necessarily be in the game at all.

I am talking about the SIS stuff. The second most confusing clue. And once again I think that the coincidence of some things is way to obvious. The SIS building can be found in London next to the vauxhall bridge over the thames. Just to put this in content - BioWare has said over and over again that earth might be a major playground in Mass Effect 3. Also, Captain Anderson is from London. Also, the building in which our teaser character is in is the SIS building in London. He could be looking out over the Vauxhall bridge. He is probably a recruitable character in Mass Effect 3, someone who Captain Anderson tell you about. The guy is looking out from the exact same position as the SIS building is. The fact that the (Vauxhall) bridge is to his left is also a very wierd coincidence. So what do you think guys? With earth being mentioned as much as it is in the games and by the developers, and of course the books, it would be pretty bad if BioWare just F* with us. Although, if this happened to be an expansion for Mass Effect 2 with multiplayer, I wouldn't be suprised.

A very small detail which might not even have something to do with this is the latest Bonus Round with Geoff on GameTrailers. They totally talked about Mass Effect and showed this teaser and continued with Mass Effect 2 footage. I am pretty sure that this is a Mass Effect-game and I do think that it is Mass Effect 3 we are looking at. What do you think? :)

The Elder Scrolls V: Oblivion II

I'm sorry that this post is this short. But I have a question: How do you make a "direct sequel" to a game that had one hour of story. I loved The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Not because of the story, because that sucked monkey balls but because of the freaking thieves guild and the game world. To see the sunrise/sunset in Anvil was awesome. To own a house and steal every single spoon in the game was awesome aswell. But the story was horrible. How do you make a follow up to something that was as boring and wierd as Guns N' Roses?

Kinect turned out to be kind of awesome!

I want to keep this short because I really want to hear your Kinect stories. So, I was very sold on Kinect and after the launch day event here on the site I started to get a little worried. After six hours with Kinect, here’s what I think about it.

First of all – it works perfect for me. I got about eleven feet of space and the Kinect is about four feet of the ground. It works great but I got a lot of trouble at the beginning when I got a lamp on in corner. I don’t know if it’s relevant at all but the lighting I used when playing was pretty much light on each side of my bed (as you can see on the picture). What you are not seeing on the picture is a couch and a table the opposite side of the bed. So it is pretty dark in the room although the pictures are turning out just fine and the face recognition totally works. And as you might know, we Europeans do not have all the voice control stuff.

The Kinect hub works great and I don’t know, it feels like it’s a little quicker then what we saw when Ryan and the guys played around. I have just played Kinect Adventures jet and I like it, I really do. I showed it to my mom and she was incredibly stoked about it. I really haven’t found any trouble with Kinect other then it totally lost my hands at sometimes after five hours. Also, the camera was very, very hot! First impressions – it’s great and I do think that we will see some masterpieces on the console.

Also, I am a pretty sporty guy and Kinect Adventures made me sweat and that’s also a great plus. Of what I’ve seen and played of the other games – they totally suck, unfortunately. But I really think that you guys should go out and buy Kinect with Dance Central because it will make any party a lot better. I will have party on Friday I think, I’ll be back about thoughts about the Kinect in room with a lot of people!

 Also, I play on a 32

Mass Effect 2, Playstation 3 version details

I have to say that I feel very, very bad for the ones that got Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 to the Xbox 360. Not because of the fact that it now totally turned into a multiplatform experience but because of the fact that the game will features content that the Xbox 360-version didn't. Many, many people, me included, bought the Xbox 360 because of a handful of game, Mass Effect included. I have the luxury of both consoles but I am in the minority of Mass Effect-fans that got two consoles and that is kind of what bums me out. Why?

It's an RPG, the game is a fantastic RPG where alot of people wanted to do everything, know everything about the story and see places that are described in the books for themselves. Even though it's a multiplatform game and it's under control by EA, stuff may come exclusivly for the Playstation 3 version and that kind of scares me. The ultimate Mass Effect experience is on PC and Xbox 360 but that might change when Playstation 3 owners got there hand on the game.

Don't get me wrong now. I think that it's kind of good that Mass Effect expends to charm a new audience. But when you've got a community that litterly makes it possible for this trilogy to move on, then you should be very careful about taking stuff away from them. If Infamous or Uncharted came out on the Xbox 360 and would have features exclusive content, that kind of would have been a very bad betrayal.

What do you guys think. Will BioWare stop at the exclusive "interactive comic catch-up" for the Playstation 3 or will they start up more exclusive content. And what role does Sony play in this. Would BioWare agree a deal where Mass Effect 3 had some kind of DLC exlusivity.

Thoughts about Kinect, what do you think?

The Kinect is a week away for us Europeans and I got to say, I am stoked… and kind of afraid. Not because of the line-up because we’ve seen the first review of the game that I thought looked the weakest and it turned out to be great, but because of the fact the Microsoft was afraid of low review scores and didn’t send out review copies. My question is, was it all ‘cause they did expect low scores or they simple didn’t want to risk it?

Well let’s be honest. Microsoft Kinect may not have the line-up that, what we call “hardcore gamers”, would want to see at launch. But the Kinect itself is a fantastic tool that you can do great games with. Why on earth aren’t Microsoft pushing the system and saying – hey guys you can totally control your multimedia entertainment device with your voice.

The easy answer is that they really want to get this out to an audience that is not the one I’m in. And I understand that. But what about people that who doesn’t know so much about Kinect. The ones who think of it as an Eye Toy rip of? I would really pick up some cash and get to work because there’s a lot of those guys and they are as important for Microsoft as the casual “oh look how cool this camera thing is zomg!”.

I’ll support Kinect. Not because of the fantastic line-up that doesn’t exist but because of the potential the hardware got. And that is kind of sad if you think of it… But hey, who know?! It all might be just awesome. We’ll see soon! :D

Thoughts about the Mafia II demo!

As you already might have seen, I love Grand Theft Auto IV. I really loved the serious and story heavy part of the game, much because I really enjoyed the first Mafia game where there wasn’t really much room for crazy fun. Mafia II is out in a couple of weeks but a 15-minute demo is available for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Of course, it’s just a demo-version but I was both very impressed and unfortunately not so impressed.

First of all – the look of this game is absolutely fantastic. With that said, it doesn’t always feel quit right. It’s not a fact of the engine being broken or simply some glitches. It’s the general feel. And also, it’s not all the time, but every now and then. Which is really weird and kind of unfortunate because the game really looses it’s momentum when this happens. I am going to try to explain what I mean.

The driving feels fine, especially on realistic mode. And even though the cars aren’t really taking as much damage as I would like them to do on realistic mode it’s fun to drive around. But the running and the running and the shooting feel kind of… dated? Even though the shotgun feels amazing and guys are flying all over the place when you are using it the way it should be used I’m constantly trying to avoid to shoot stuff. It’s kind of sad to admit but I think that the problem is the aiming and the lack of auto-aim. Rockstar’s Euphoria engine did a great combination and when they forced you to use free aiming it worked out just fine. That is not the case in Mafia II and it can very well be because of the way your character runs around. Also, the frame rate is way too low sometimes but that’s probably because of the demo.

But hey, as I said. It looks fantastic and some of the features (as the clothing shop, the car customization, your own house where you can interact with stuff) are very, very awesome and seriously, as we’ll be able to spend more then 15 minutes with the game we’ll probably get the feel of the game and it all will end up awesome.

What do you think about Mafia II?

Great Video Game Soundtracks # 1: Halo Wars

Remember when Microsoft showed us the first trailer for Halo 3? I don’t think that I am wrong when I am saying that a majority of the fans got goose bumps when the piano started playing and Master Chief made an entrance. That was a great song, no doubt. But do you remember Halo Wars? That was incredible!

Go easy on me now. I am not saying that Halo Wars is a better game the games in the main trilogy. I think that Halo Wars have a story that is ten times better then the three games combined, but the overall experience isn’t really on the same level. But you know what is? The soundtrack! Halo is known for its fantastic music but I kind of feel bad for Halo Wars. The game is pretty much nothing for a lot of people now, but I had a blast listening through the soundtrack and down below you have some great examples of probably the best Halo related thing ever.

1. Halo Wars OST: Bad Here Day

The second track of the official Halo Wars soundtrack might pretty much be the best song of them all, all four games. The track has a very Mass Effect feel with the well-known choir and piano that pretty much defines the Halo music. Overall the track is a pretty good example of how this album really sounds.

2. Halo Wars OST: Spirit of Fire

Spirit of Fire is the menu music from Halo Wars. If you ask me, I pretty much think that this is the best menu music in any Halo game and that trilogy sure does have some awesome music. Also, I love this track because of the sadness, it is a beautiful sad song.

3. Halo Wars OST: Fingerprints Are Broken

Fingerprints Are Broken is a fantastic song. It may be a soundtrack for a video game but the overall quality of this three-minute masterpiece is very high. It might be my third favorite from the soundtrack disk, but still this is one of the greatest Halo tracks ever created. Why? Because of the damn piano and the choir of course!
