I usually try to tailor my recommendations to the person I am specifically suggesting a game too, I try to keep their past likes/dislikes in mind.

In the spirit of this thread though, I have thrown out recommendations for Shadows of the Damned, Killer7, Freedom Fighters, Deadly Premonition, Godhand, Shadows of the Colossus, and Beat Down: Fists of Vengeance (Oh maaaaaan! This gaaaaaaaaaame. I know it's not great but my love of beat'em ups and how freaking dumb/weird this whole thing is makes it a favorite despite all the jank.) quite a bit when given the chance. Specifically when somebody asks for something a bit different from what they've been playing.

Currently running through the definitive edition of Sleepy Dawgz. Other than the framerate being oddly cruddy in some places it's still a great game. Still has some slick looking wet roads, especially at night when all the lights are on. Bummed that a sequel seems to be more and more unlikely as the years go on.

I won't go as far to say it makes me win more (or less) but Initial D - Space Boy (Daytona USA has the unintended effect of making me worse but I still love that song) gets me super pumped to get behind the wheel in racing games. For everything else, all I need is the Ninja Gaiden (NES) 4-2 Stage Music or Dog Fashion Disco-The Darkest Days. Couldn't find a good quality video on youtube for The Darkest Days but live performances are there if you want them. Highly recommended if you're looking for a good experimental metal band, they've been one of my favorites since my mid-teens.

Capcom has been in a weird way for a long time and I doubt it will ever be like it used to be but that doesn't mean they can't still put out some alright games. My only complaints about Dead Rising 4 is the changes to Frank, I would of liked to have TJ Rotolo back and his appearance from Off the Record where he looked like a slightly younger and sleazier Dan Aykroyd. The new voice isn't bad necessarily but that combined with the redesign they should of just made it a new character instead. Other than that the Dead Rising bits still look Dead Rising and I'll have fun murdering crowds of zombies with my friend like I have since Dead Rising 2.

Resident Evil 7 I'm a bit more weary of. I'm okay with them trying to do something entirely new with the series but I'm not sold on RE7 just quite yet. They have come out and said there will be combat of a sort, which helps some. I just don't want RE7 being like so many other first person horror games we see these days where you just hide from stuff the vast majority of the game. If I can use offensive means as an actual viable option in this game then I'll be fine. Older Resident Evils where about making specific choices with the resources you had by either using them or trying to avoid the present enemies to use them on something later.

If it maintains that and isn't just "oh no somebody saw you, here comes five minutes of running around frantically and popping in and out of lockers/beds/hidey holes until the AI loses you!" then the game will be fine I imagine. I prefer them taking another stab at doing something completely different then just doing RE6 again, at least this way the series has a shot at living again.

I'm not dismissing the game out of hand but I'll need to see far more of it before I can make any decision on purchasing it. If it turns out being absolutely dire I'll avoid it, if it's a sixty dollar product (but isn't a dumpster fire) then I'm definitely waiting for a steep price drop but that's more about how I purchase games these days then a comment on survive itself.

Depending on how the mechanics of it pan out, what exactly the loop is and if it's an open environment or a more linear things influence greatly on me purchasing it. If it doesn't look too bad and it's about thirty dollars I can see myself picking it up and trying to get a couple of my friends along. I'm hoping it doesn't turn out to be a Dragon Ball Xenoverse situation, a game I was interested in due to liking Dragon Ball but ended up greatly disliking the end product.

Titanfall 2 and Gears 4 with me placing my vote on Gears 4. I'm always up for a Gears campaign and still like how those games play and feel. Getting a proper horde mode (the co-op thing from Judgement wasn't all that great) bumps it up as well since I lost a lot of hours to Gears 2 and 3 horde mode.

I mean, I dunno....maybe? Look, I wish it wasn't zombies and I'm a guy that by and large still likes most zombie stuff cause if made well those games can be some mindless fun and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

Again, wish it wasn't zombies but the idea of using the mechanics of MGSV again is kind of okay by me. It mostly depends on how this is gonna go, is it going to be a complete linear affair (like L4D) or is it going to have more of the mission structure of Phantom Pain in an open environment complete with decking out your zombie defense force base, or will it be made in such a way that the micro transactions will be ridiculous and a key focus?

I played through MGSV at the beginning of this year and while some of the story stuff was pretty disappointing it was one of the best experiences I've had with a game just from it's mechanics alone. I spent a month doing EVERYTHING in that damn game and loved the hell out of it. Getting up to no good with a few friends with those mechanics sounds kind of alright to me. I'll be less enthused if it's super linear and doesn't facilitate any good open world nonsense you could make happen in Phantom Pain, but I'm hoping that's not the case.

I mean, maybe it's for the best they don't try to make any actual new story stuff in this series cause who the hell knows how that could go. Depending on what the nitty gritty mechanics of this thing is, waiting for a price drop and trying to press gang my friends into doing dumb open world phantom pain stuff could be okay. Or this could be absolute garbage, but I'm not going to write this thing off yet. This could be the one MGS game I could get my friend to play who hates the story stuff for MGS, but liked the look of Phantom Pain's mechanics.

@jrodrz: I just can't really recommend Code Veronica X at twenty dollars which I assume is what it will go back to. RE6 is also on sale on the One but for 13.99 and I'd say it might be worth it, having a co-op partner in tow will make it better but that's true for a lot of things. I will say be warned that there is an odd Xbox One glitch for RE5, 6, and Rev 2 for some people that when they try to create co-op games the game will crash to the dashboard.

It's a bizarre glitch that seems to affect people randomly (it does it for me on RE5 and now Rev 2) but it doesn't seem to affect many others for some bizarre reason and Capcom doesn't seem too interested in fixing it for people like me who have been affected. You can still get invited to a co-op game and play as normal and the games play perfectly fine when playing offline solo. This may not happen to you since it seems to only hit a minority of the player-base but I'd figure I would give you a heads up.

Even when the sale passes, you can probably find copies of RE6, RE5 (if you buy the 360 version try to get the gold edition as it has extra story DLC's included) Rev 1 and 2 for cheap used so it may still be totally doable to get them on at a bargain. Code Veronica X is the only one on the Xbox that has never had a retail release so you're kind of boned there unfortunately.

Dynasty Warriors and Earth Defense Force are dope and you can't tell me other wise! I'll fight the yellow turban rebellion as many times as I damn well please. You don't run my life!

I enjoyed my time with Final Fight: Streetwise.

I will gladly play any new brawler released even if I know in my heart of hearts some of them are preeeeetty bad. It's still my favorite type of game and I will play what I have to to get my fix.

I wasn't blown away by Half Life 2, one of my friends called me a monster for it.

I bought Bulletwitch when it came out and I think it's okay.

NeverDead was totally fine you guys!

I got all the achievements in Raven Squad with a friend. The both of us have been ex-communicated by our respective governments.

Dead Space 3 is not the dumpster fire everyone thinks it is, but it definitely did lose it's way.

I Am Alive was one of my favorite games in the year of it's release (not sure if it's disliked or anything but it kind of came and went huh?)

I am the person who keeps buying RE4 every time Capcom re-releases it and I will continue to do so. I am the problem but I cannot stop.

I beat Tenchu Z three times on easy, normal, and hard to get all the achievements for it. That game has fifty missions, it was kind of ridiculous.

I played and beat Infernal: Hell's Vengeance. I don't really recommend it.

I can sometimes be an asshole when it comes to Bethesda's handling of the Fallout license, but I try to reign it in and not seem like some kind rage fueled monster spewing salt. That said, Broken Steel still rubs me the wrong way to this day, fuck that thing.

Cobra is a shitty movie full stop. Not a gaming confession but it had to be said.

I'm sure I have more but that's what comes to me, I tried to avoid "I'm gonna throw shade at some popular thing" as much as I could.

@jrodrz: I can only really speak for myself but Code Veronica X and RE6 are the bottom of the totem pole (which one is dead last depends on the day honestly) so I can only really say that overall I disliked them.

However, on the 360 you can grab RE6 and Code Veronica X for under ten dollars each as part of the publisher sale and at that price I'd say they are worth a look. Especially if you are determined to get into the series and play most or all of the major entries in the series. My main issue with RE6 that the entire thing felt unfocused and tried the "please them all" approach while not being strong in any one area. The general gameplay of RE6 has a certain quickness and style to it once you get use to it though, even with that it still never fully won me over.

I found the vast majority of Code Veronica X kind of by the numbers and ho-hum, it has some hilariously silly story bits (I love Alfred Ashford and his ability to ham up everything) but also heads the series down a road I never liked from the jump (Matrix Wesker, if you play it you will see what I mean especially as the series continued.)

It's hard for me to fully recommend Code Veronica X or RE6 over the others since the ones I listed are far better in their respective styles. For under ten bucks though in that sale going on, I won't completely wave them off. I'd say my other recommendations are stronger picks and better overall games in both styles of RE. If you get into the overall story playing any you can get your hands on is fine especially if you end up liking any of these characters and the ridiculous nonsense that can happen in each game.
